RIP WILLIE McCOVEY
What else to say? A great player and from all accounts, at least as I’ve heard, a good guy. Buon viaggio Stretch.

One of those guys that doesn't matter if they played on your team or not. Respect and RIP.

Rock hard stud. Bob Gibson called him "the scariest hitter in baseball" because he hit the ball so hard.
Willie McCovey and Roberto Clemente were my old man's favorite players.
RIP Mac

I'll always remember seeing him hit a line drive homer down the first base line as a kid - I'd swear in court that ball had no arc on it, like a fucking laser beam. Ended up getting a kid-sized Willie McCovey Louisville Slugger bat for little league and hit a lot of balls to right field because I couldn't get that log around fast enough. RIP Stretch, you were a hero to a lot of little kids.
Why must I feel like that, why must I chase the cat?

I remember he hit a smash in a key moment (last out??) of a postseason game where it was a huge at bat. He hit a rocket line drive right at the 2nd baseman that would have turned the game if it was not right at someone. Probably injured the 2nd baseman's hand he hit it so hard. I should find the video.

I’ve always wondered why some of those 60s Giants teams didn’t win a World Series...Mays, McCovey, Cepeda, The Alou brothers, Marichal, Gaylord, Jim Ray Hart...pretty strong teams
