America... just a nation of two hundred million used car salesmen with all the money we need to buy
guns and no qualms about killing anybody else in the world who tries to make us uncomfortable.
Hunter S. Thompson
animals included.

if you knew why you'd be looking at home, not at china. but then that would require acknowledging the truth and taking responsibility for your actions exactly as you expect others to. both of those concepts are profoundly unamerican.

Was thinking about this the other day... the most common apocalyptic scenarios have earth as a wasteland and everything collectively struggling...due to man. I think the more likely scenario is man changing something (enviro, resource limits) and then we are simply out competed by a better adapted or suited creature.
Picture putting a strain on the system which wobbles mankind... Now add in a creature like a revised locust that breeds like mad, eats our common food sources and is resilient to our defenses. Isn't that the way it has happened in the past? Top slot gets out competed?

Something like 99% of all critters that have lived are extinct now.

A seagull shit directly in my ear one day at the beach this past summer. I'd be okay with a few less birds. At least one less for sure.

This shit is why I had a hard time seeing Thanos in the Avengers movie as evil. I half thought watching the movie, he was on to something about humanely snapping fingers and half the population would disappear.
However, as George Carlin famously said, the earth isn't fucked. People are fucked. It will go on without us, even its some organisms living deep in a fissure under the sea.

It's like in the Da Vinci Code - when you finally figure out what the bad guy is up to, it's like, but wait, that's a fairly decent idea.

We have been here before.
I have a 1/2 baked theory (especially makes sense if you are fully baked) that there have been other iterations of the human race on this rock that have advanced, flourished and then gone extinct.
But where is the evidence????
Look to the bottom of the oceans.
Anyway, it is just a theory.
