Good stuff. They start listening!? Forgive me if I am incredulous. Part of our problem is probably that they take after their parents.

Honestly I’ve mostly only been there for night skiing but I bet you do.

One of my favorite ski stories though is about Alpental...Forgive me the blog here...The only time I ever skipped school and made doubly worse since I got caught forging my Dad’s signature on my excuse.

We were going to skip and go to Alpental. I put my ski gear outside the window of my room and went to school as normal in the morning. My friend and I left school in his ‘69 Chevelle and went to my house to pick up my gear. After sneaking up and grabbing my gear I hightailed it back to the Chevelle, twisting my ankle on the curb for my efforts. When it started swelling up I figured the answer was to put on my San Marcos then and there to stop the swelling or at the least make sure it didn’t swell up to the point that I couldn’t get my boot on.

So we rendezvous with three other delinquents at where I cannot remember. They came in another friend’s Capri. All the booze and all the skis went into the Capri, and one of the friends from the Capri joined us in the Chevelle.

So we began the drive to Alpental from Lynnwood. The Chevelle made it there first and we began waiting for the Capri. We decided to get up onto the snowplow berm on the north side of the road and make snowballs to bomb the Capri with when they arrived. And we waited, and waited. Turns out the Capri broke down next to those masonry walls just off I-90 going out of North Bend with the skis and the booze.

We gathered them up and still managed to salvage some skiing. Not only did the Capri driver blow up his car but on chair one(?) at Alpental where it goes momentarily out of bounds he lost one of his comp 710s which landed on its tail really hard. After skiing down to it and going out of bounds to retrieve it, it was broken.

Sorry for the extended boring story but once I got halfway through typing all this I couldn’t stop.

No doubt. I actually prefer them, but Rainier from Crystal is pretty ikonic (pun intended).

Padded seats deliver serious views on a clear day.
