My MIL, (also in Winthrop, WA), has about a half acre fully fenced, 7’ or so high, for their dogs. Of course, they hang out within about 20’ of the house, but no deer is gonna skewer them, or no coyote is gonna lure them away to the pack.
We don’t like fences, so we trained our dog with an invisible fence, he barks when he senses the coyotes, but now he doesn’t chase them.

I have seen dogs climb fences, so I am certain other animals can do the same thing to a 6-7 foot fence, if not just jump over it (a cougar) hence why I thought it needed to be fully enclosed. What a PITA. I may have to put that idea on the back burner as long as the big guys are with us and just stick to cities. I think the below is more up my wife's alley once she retires anyway.

That is why I like dogs, more than most people.

    Acme coyote hunting

    Annecy? You work for Salomon?

Train your dogs. They don’t have to just stand passively and get eaten.

Bullshit. I’ve never even shot a deer in my life.

Just in his natural habitat. Word is he was separated from the rest of his pack, when they boarded a pedal cart bar.

^^^ "It's unclear at this time how the coyote was able to get inside the bathroom."

I'm gonna go with "through the door".

Here's one in the elevator of the old Federal Court House in Seattle:
