Logan Pehota's "Line of the Year" Segment from Numinous
We just released Logan Pehota's segment from last season's "Movie of the Year." Logan won "line of the year" for the obvious one in here. Looking forward to filming more with him this season!
Enjoy!

Nice!!!!
Atrain, any chance Numinous will be released on DVD/BluRay? I still like to occasionally get stuff in those formats if the movie is worth it, and Numinous is DEFINITELY worth it."Have you ever seen a monk get wildly fucked by a bunch of teenage girls?" "No" "Then forget the monastery."
"You ever hear of a little show called branded? Arthur Digby Sellers wrote 156 episodes. Not exactly a lightweight." Walter Sobcheck.
"I didn't have a grandfather on the board of some fancy college. Key word being was. Did he touch the Filipino exchange student? Did he not touch the Filipino exchange student? I don't know Brooke, I wasn't there."

Ya know, last year was a pretty good year for ski flics, but Numinous was lights out. Hands down best ski porn in a very long time. I can not wait to see what’s next! I too would like to see a dvd/Blu-ray/whatever disc option.

Logan Pehota's "Line of the Year" Segment from Numinous
I liked the silence of it — no voiceovers or interviews
But one request on the whole flick
A subtle subtitle indicating who’s who
Maybe just at the intro for each athlete?

I loved the "film" approach (including the score) as opposed to the action/documentary approach. I think any words on the screen would have detracted from that -- IMHO. I agree that other ski films are just so hokie with the "dialogue." Numinous took it to a new level on many aspects, not only the skiing.
Line of the year was not obvious to me. There are 2-3 lines in that segment that stand out.

We debated this for a while. We ultimately decided against it because the whole ethos of the film was to feel the immersion of those "Numinous" states/feelings in the mountains. We thought having to look down and read and concentrate would ruin that flow vs. just letting yourself detach from reality into the images. We also thought those who know will know already, i.e. anyone heavily involved in the ski industry, and those who want to figure it out, can figure it out based on the end credits. But we did discuss it.
I have 3.
Separate drone filmer. Chris Flynn did most of it. Jamie Tanner who does some seeking nirvana stuff did some. Andre Nutini who does some Legs of Steel stuff did some. They all kill it and I pushed them to take risks in the field, because they are the A+ shot 75% of the time. The tripod will guaranteed get the shot if something crazy happens.. Might as well risk it on the drone so an A shot can turn into an A+++ shot.

I guess I’m a ski film/gear/social media nerd as I had no trouble know each skier in every shot. Haven’t watched Numinous front to back since last ski season, time to fix that now that we are into winter weather here.

No worries. Always appreciate critique of creative endeavours. It's a good thing.
We had a head shot of each individual before their segment every time, but perhaps it was too quick at times. We had a lot of banger ski footage, so always making decisions of where to cut a few frames here and there to make room for another shot.
