Yeah, the gravity of the situation got real quickly, standing in a room of a dozen people in their 70's and 80's not sure they would ever live to see each other again, decided to mainly hang out and talk.

But the suggestions were heeded to not add a day just to forge up to green bay...weather was turning for sure when we left.

I forgot one of the best things about Wisconsin is the fuzzy caterpillars. Can't really think of much else...road biking was pretty good too where there's some hills.

The Eagle congregation near the roller dam in Davenport sounds super cool.
Certainly would be a highlight of visiting during that if I timed it different in a future year.

Solid work! Didn't see any ice cream shots but closing it out with Iowa bacon was $$$.

Nice TR. old photos are funny. 80 years can be short or long depending on who is looking. Personally it's hard sharing pics of grandfolks who fought German side. But the same "you look like grandpa" pics are kinda cool no matter your roots.
Also: lack of lederhosen or tenderloins: gotta go back again.

Thanks. Interesting comment, given grandad on that side was 100% German. He had a few kids by the time ww2 started though, so probably got skipped because of that. Also probably just a few years older than the draft at that point in addition. A couple Uncles did Vietnam tours though.

Couple more days in town. Haven't seen a black squirrel yet. Only one Bald Eagle so far. Been chilly and snow is still hanging around. Should have brought the skis home and hit up Snowstar.
