Thank you. My buddy drove by on the way to meet me in Pinkham Notch yesterday. Said it wasn't looking good.
Long story short, we wussed out in the morning and paid $10 to skin/ski the relative safety of Wildcat... After one lap, we went back across the street, and nabbed some nice turns in what was left of the soft wind slab in the lower snowfields that braver souls had cut up for us earlier in the day. Pics coming sometime.
For those looking for info on Tucks - I didn't actually make it up into the bowl, but it was pretty damn icy above the Sherburne, with some windslab on top of the textured, frozen base. Some lines had way more windslab than others. Below about 1/3rd of the way up hillman's, the slab had some moisture in it, and it was sticking pretty nicely to the frozen base. Up higher the slab was quite dry, and not bonded so well.
On the way up, I noticed the crown of one small avalanche looker's left of Raymond Cataract... like, way, way far looker's left, probably closer to Hojo's than Raymond (sorry to be so vague, idk if this feature/location has a name). Hard to tell how big it was, but the crown was probably 20' wide, and <12" high.
Also, I talked to to one guy who said he triggered a small slab as he traversed from Lower Headwall to Lower Snowfields... He said it was maybe 6' wide, and ran a very short distance.

2019 Mount Washington Memorial Day BBQ and Slackfest
Looks hopeful for a another 30 gate slalom this year.
Lawn furniture, coolers, grills, Slackfest is happening on the Northeast Snowfield, all three days of Memorial Day weekend (if the Auto Road is open)Last edited by robrox; 04-30-2019 at 02:58 PM.

I just skied Cannon. Barons is good almost all to the bottom and will be for a while.
Profile looks good from the road but I did not have time and looked iffy to get up there but could probably connect the dots. Someone was hiking the front 5.
