Ptarmigans are kind of like pigeons and will sit until you ski over them and then move ten feet away. Grouse always make me jump taking off ten feet away and gone, not sure how anyone gets one with a gun.

A while later a letter came from the state pathologist informing us that the racoons tested negative for rabies. The only way to test is to euthanize them. The pathologist told us he had to test them for rabies because we had handled them.
Unfortunately, the only way to be sure is to take a brain tissue sample from the animal. If you wait for the disease to incubate to where it's detectable in humans, it's too late.

I rocked those skis in 1978. Hard to imagine we skied trees and pow with those skinny-ass sticks

Glen Plake was at the loaf last couple days. The ambassador of stoketown skied the hill, signed some posters and had a bag burger. Sorry I missed him

-5` 1 mph wind and blue skies bob. Got snows for my new whip yesterday. And I thought Ullr would be pleased with new mounts? bwdik?

    Magic!

As the system comes onshore today and is better sampled in future
model runs the finer mesoscale details will become more clear, but
initial estimates for snow totals are for 6-12" from the St.
Lawrence Valley into the Adirondacks, 8-16" across the Champlain
Valley and central/northeast Vermont, and potentially up towards 2
    feet across southern Vermont.

    A good dog.
Or follow them. They only fly short distances and will try and hide again.

It could be madness up there this weekend, but as long as the lot is plowed and you get there by 9-9:30, you should be fine.

I actually like the social aspect of skiing at Brandon Gap, but I’m glad it’s not my local and I can avoid crowds when I wish.

Hey Benny! Expect wind related lift closures during this storm. You've been warned.

Yeah, the dome of cold dry air is going to push all the snow south into the Boston area. The mountains are going to get 2" of fluff that will proceed to blow into Canada. Meanwhile the hoards will be descending for the holiday weekend and we will have to listen to them wonder where all of the snow is since they just got 4' in their back yard and then bitch about how icy and cold it is here in the mountains.
Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.
