What a beautiful day in the mountains. Gathered some friends and took a ski tour on the long trail. Snow conditions were variable depending upon the aspect, from wind slab to dense powder. The sheer quantity of spruce needles embedded in the snow along the ridge from the nuking winds was impressive.

Pro tip: If your skins come off your skis, just grab your skis with your hands and crawl up the skin track...

Pretty sure this was taken on the lower mountain at Sunday River. Lower Sunday Punch maybe? Please note the rugby shirt.
Bonus points if those skis were 200cm+ and the boots were rear-entry.

Looks like Salomon 91's to me.

26` and breezy bob, much pre opening winhold at south. Yesterday found the roads in shitty shape with glass like white ice on 45% of surfaces. Incoming rain falling on the road, with surface temps likely below 0`, will make for some shitty driving this evening.

    91 EQUIPES, mister

And but of course. Can't recall if they were 203 slaloms or 207 GS but definitely over 200 because THAT'S WHAT ALL THE COOL KIDS WERE DOING!!!!

Got a Western mountain road trip coming up. Google maps claims it is only an hour out of my way to ski MRG. Never been before could be the title of trip as hitting as many as many 6 other resorts in Montana and BC never been before as well.

Rig the wagon and head off middle of next week. Dislike driving West through Vt but want to hit MRG mid-week to start the trip. Could stay 2 days, but means loosing one in Mt so likely one.

After this January interlude looks promising for next week.

Salomon rear-entry boots still have a cult following

"This past year the rear plastic sole on my boot disintegrated. Rather than replace with new boots, to my wife horror, I i made a new sole out of Maple in my wood shop. Works great. Making one for other side now."

    Nice Cat! Enjoy that trip!

Hopefully it will stay white up there tomorrow as mrg is fun hill. You'll dig it for sure. If it's ice skating I'd just keep on truckin' west and hit it on the way back maybe?

Cat in January... hit me up if you would like a connection at Bridger. My brother has worked there for 15+ years and would be happy to show another Mainer around I’m sure. Bridger is a place where you will want a set of local eyes to help you around the Ridge.

We usually go there for a visit in mid-February but this year are spending a week in Banff beginning of March.

    Sounds like a great trip...

Heading up to K-Mart with some friends who are locked into this weekend, so will enjoy crushing granite refrozen raincrust over windjacked groomers. Nice follow up to last Sundays absolutely epic day at the Bush

Sorry for grubbing, but anyone have any good ticket hookups for this weekend? Can repay favor w Tired Hands brews if desired.

Hero groomers today. Didn't witness any employees with pitchforks so the apology must have worked.

Every once in a while one of these pops up in Facebook. So to stir the pot and add to the gloom of the next two days, here you go...

And as if by magic, MRG tickets are $3.50 next week...
