Ha, great way to endear yourself to the new neighbors! A couple of dozen drunken freaks burning skis all night wearing the same jackets, they'll think it's some kind of cult ritual...wait, never mind.

Congrats MNIAW. Looks like you'll be close to grand baby. How's the fishing on Granite Lake?

I did see a girl swimming topless last weekend there but she appeared to be about 2. Future prospect?

Tax jab was a total joke. Makes sense you had to pay the higher rate all along - wasn’t sure if it mattered where your homestead state was.
I’ve been living in Boston and paying elevated property taxes in Westmore. Not like those are going down now that I am in Burlington (to my understanding).
Silver was on our radar but nothing for sale there...also like the larger but not too large size of Granite. In Londonderry area, full-time residents pay more because of the school choice (Burr & Burton). our rate is actally lower because our kids could not go to school there.

Fishing is OK. Lake is very deep and very clear so not many places for the bass to hide. Magicsnowboard is looking for a small sailboat for me; going to learn to sail when I retire.

Summer lake sailing is very satisfying....ice-boating, on the other hand, is like speedballs, addictive and exhausting.

Figgerd this be teh best place to ask...
Thinking of heading up to vacayland in 2 weeks for some backpacking(maybe climbing). Was thinking of wandering around bigelow preserve/flagstaff lake. From what I could or couldn't find, walk-in camping without a reservation is ok. Any need-to-know's from the resident ME mags?

^^ round barn preserve on Flagstaff lake is good. Thereís a great site in the bigelow preserve on Stratton Brook Pond, right near the fire wardens trail.

Iíve saw on FB (maybe last week) some people making mid-July turns. Any recent info on what is left other than via the webcam.
Also wondering if there is any chance of the extremely rare Eastern August turns?
Currently on vacation, but coming back on July 31.

Deer flies were horrendous at Magic last weekend. This weekend they have tapered to a mere nuisance. Couple more weeks and then it will be game on to get into the woods.

Absolutly! Any type of manufactured fragrance like soap, shampoo, conditioner, perfume, or cologne brings them in droves. Always amusing to have the most gussied up getting the worst of the bugs. A dunk in the lake and a dry in the sun is all you need in the summer!

Those mid July turns looked surprisingly legit. Skiing for the sake of skiing for sure, but far from the usual July 4 snow arch sketchiness.

I'm thinking about Thursday, since I've never skied in August out east.
Plus would be hilarious to end my ski season out here after thinking I had wrapped it up on Friday.

End of ride today, as soon as I was out of the woods and rolling slow, deer flies swarmed in like a group of Zeros. Trust me that my 3rd ride unwashed kit was not perfumed nor had I doused myself in Axe.
Also washing the car and felt something land on my arm. Before I could turn my head to see what is was, I got bitten by one of those invasive faux ladybugs.
