Greenheads are near to wasps as far as nature’s biggest dickheads, we live right off the Great Marsh and they’re brutal for a couple weeks

    Thanks for the insect updates.

Looks like Saturday 27th or Sunday 28th for recon and light touch. Scything will be on mid week trips.

I'll take wasps over greenheads any day, they don't hunt you down like a special forces soldier and leave you bloodied

Skin so soft works OK as a greenhead repellent

OK is not good enough, the Greenheads carve out steaks and seem to prefer a little sauce, such as SSS, Woodsman's, DEET when they chow on my skin.

Played golf with a guy I know who is in the industry last week and asked him about Jay and he said "there will be other acquisitions that are announced before that one gets done." He said there isn't a private or smaller multi resort operator in North America that hasn't been approached by either Vail or Alterra at some point in the last year, likely multiple times.

The most surprising part of the announcement for me is the fact that the state of Ohio has 4 distinct ski areas...

Counting my blessings Vail has not snapped up my favorites even though I am likely paying more for 3 separate passes for Jiminy, K and Magic than if they were all Epic. Can't imagine Vail would keep the world cup and skiing/tailgating until June if it bought K. Imagine the vibe at Magic if Vail owned it.

Don't think they've approached Magic yet.

Amen. The vibe at Magic would die a quick and horrible death...see Stowe for evidence. I think they would keep the WC only because it's a huge revenue generator but no way we would be skiing on June 1 if Vail took over K. Hope Solimano fends them off.

Full disclosure. I actually love Epic...I get an unlimited Epic Pass based on my retired military status for $129. Killington and Magic also treat us retired mil folk pretty damn well but nothing like Epic. I don't care that they've killed the vibe at Stowe, Okemo never had a vibe and I can't comment on Sunapee since I haven't been there since 1978. That will likely change this year as I just bought a house in NH to escape the socialist tax state the my birth state has become. Going to keep the house at Magic as a vacation, non-resident home.

I always thought the Not Epic, Not Ikonic Just Magic sign was genius...might have been the "magic" garlic to keep the blood sucking vampires away.

Seems like Peruvian should be renting from you for a year...although, not sure I'd want want him as a tenant now that I think about it .

No, keeping the same gig and renting a room from a co-worker.

Been paying non-resident taxes since the day I bought the Magic house. It's actually lower in Londonderry because of school choice.

Stoddard - Granite Lake. Low taxes and top 10 in water quality in the state.

^^^congratulations on finding a lake house, MNIAW!

I foresee something akin to the flowing alpy compound east in your future.

You did confirm the next door neighbor’s daughter is a stripper before finalizing the sale price, correct?

Lake living tough to beat. Friend’s family is on Silver just south of you. Is a beautiful area. Night skiing at Crotched. 1K vert w a high speed quad!
Tax jab was a total joke. Makes sense you had to pay the higher rate all along - wasn’t sure if it mattered where your homestead state was.
I’ve been living in Boston and paying elevated property taxes in Westmore. Not like those are going down now that I am in Burlington (to my understanding).

Ha, great way to endear yourself to the new neighbors! A couple of dozen drunken freaks burning skis all night wearing the same jackets, they'll think it's some kind of cult ritual...wait, never mind.

I did see a girl swimming topless last weekend there but she appeared to be about 2. Future prospect?

Silver was on our radar but nothing for sale there...also like the larger but not too large size of Granite. In Londonderry area, full-time residents pay more because of the school choice (Burr & Burton). our rate is actally lower because our kids could not go to school there.

Fishing is OK. Lake is very deep and very clear so not many places for the bass to hide. Magicsnowboard is looking for a small sailboat for me; going to learn to sail when I retire.
