How windy is it supposed to be this weekend? Wondering if a trip to sugarbush makes sense.

Gusts up around 40 mph so definitely the strong possibility of AM wind holds at the Bush. I'll be there regardless hoping for some AM pow turns. Worst case, I'll skin a lap then head home.

I'm going to have 2 inches of slushy slop at my house and 20 inches of pow at the mountain 30 min. away. I'll take it.

I'm just going to put some crampons on my mud boots, hike to the top of the nearest above treeline peak and see if I can stand up in the wind on Saturday. That is way more gnar than powder chasing.

High pressure will sluggishly exit offshore this afternoon as a coastal low gathers strength and churns up the coast, spreading rain and snow across the region by late this evening. Mostly clear skies will give way this afternoon as clouds thicken and lower with the incoming low, eventually descending to summit fog as precipitation spreads in. As the low moves out to sea Friday, lingering upslope snow showers will persist, with winds quickly ramping up under a tightening pressure gradient, and gusts approaching the century mark by late Friday night. At this point, temperatures aloft look to be cold enough for an all-snow event on higher terrain, with lower elevations seeing much more in the way of mixed precipitation and rain. Temperatures will fall sharply in the wake of the low, with summits eventually clearing from the fog as high pressure builds in briefly late Saturday. Winds will remain elevated through the weekend, allowing newly fallen snow to be easily picked up and transported, possibly creating whiteout conditions at times.

North of Plymouth, NH, forested, lee-side, North facing locations between 2000 and 3600 could be pretty nice

According to NECN weather, "Heavy, wet, pasty snow at elevation" = "in the white room" it won't be..

Sunday, after 9am. Gotta stop for bagels! BCG on tap....keeping an open mind about wandering up from the usual high point in BCG, to see what might be seen.

Sounds okay to me. The snow on the ground will crisp right up as temps drop so some paste will allow it to adhere.

Oh and it's snowing at 1,600' in So. VT. (stay cold, stay cold, stay cold - please, please, please)
