12` 0mph wind and the lightest of flurries bob.

Figured George would be popular, especially yesterday with the wind drop.

Stoweked. 100" means go. Everything on the chin looked as fat as ever. Amazing variability in depth from aspect to aspect. I can't remember a better day on skis. Snowing in Nrthfld.

Took the long weekend to head to ski camp. 3.5 feet of snow on the deck, funky crust on the two miles to camp, above camp, 900 vert of the smoothest snow. 52 years of forest ski management yields:

3+” of 800 fill down and it’s still falling.

Bottleman warning, Nordic ski pics below. You’ve been warned

Mrs.P and I got out on a nice 10k+ backcountry kick and glide today. It really helped both of our moods to get out and not see another person.

Cannon was surprisingly quiet today. Picked up 1 or 2 inches of fluff during the day. Not enough to totally bury the crust but not bad either. Here's hoping the Wednesday/Thursday storm adds to the base.

Niiiice. Beautiful moose meadows on top of that mountain.
Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

I remember as a kid one foggy day getting lost following the moose trails. This weekend we never saw a single moose or track.

Great mix of artsy and actions shots. The thread has entered a new level with the pics this season. Dunfee, are those all taken with a DSLR?

Thanks! Fun project to add to the much when I'm out walking around. I use a Sony a6000, which is an incredible bang for your buck and small enough I can actually fit it in a jacket pocket (and thus actually bring it). Highly recommend it for anyone interested in investing in a good camera without spending gobs of money.

I think I may buy one. Which telephoto lens should I get?

In other news, the talk on the six pack this morning was all about Fairbanks buying back jiminy. Looks like he bought it back for much less than he sold it for 10 years ago.

I usually shoot with the 16-50 kit lens but this plastic part inside it is broken so shooting with the 55-200 while I wait for a part. I got an amazon refurbished package that had both lenses for 600-700. Crazy good deal.

    Example here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B013G...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Most of the stuff in there (lens filters that don't fit the lenses, shitty tripod, etc) is pretty useless but the two lenses, back up batteries, memory card are great to have.
