    My dog has chased off black bears. Well, he looked like he thought they might be new friends, but they were too shy.

    Black bears are as scared of you as you are of them. Brown bears will eat you or not, def not scared.

    Yea I posted this in the wildlife thread of me chasing off one by just walking towards it. Chased another one off with a broom that was waste deep in my compost bin.

    But when its night and I see splintered fences and trash cans in the street and the cops stopping me and telling me a big boy is here and not smart to be out with your dog. probably best to go home. Still don't want to surprise a bear in the dark.
