As most know, WBR is made up of professional rescuers from all the ski areas and counties in the Wasatch.
Alta Central has always had their finger on the pulse of WBR.
When you get a green dispatcher at 911, like yesterday, or something is going on in Juab or Duchesne county, where that dispatcher has probably never heard of WBR...
Its a backup kinda thing locally, and a service WBR can provide to other counties in need.
Edit: The more time WBR has to prepare and coordinate for a rescue = A safer and more timely rescue can occur.
Interesting fact: The signed volunteers of WBR under the auspices of their County Sheriff will be covered in any county in the nation for accidents, etc. All that's needed is an agreement between Sheriffs. One of few remaining good old boy things.Last edited by telefreewasatch; 01-03-2019 at 02:20 PM.

Thanks all for the recommendations. I met with Dr. Higgins today and he slotted me in for surgery tomorrow. Given his specialty in tibial plateau fractures, I figured it would be better to get it done and over with here and head home next week.

No I meant the Upd officer on duty was green. He hesitated to call certain parties. Solitude patrol said they were too busy. Props to brighton patrol for getting on it.

7F at the th this morning but happily it was inverted. very nice morning with pleasant temps higher up, felt like upper teens to low 20s, and no wind around 7:30am at ~9900'.
clearly there HAD been wind though. the whole shoulder was like a moonscape of wind scour / load / general windfuckery. S facing into Mill A looked pretty rough too. there was a small SH layer even in wind-exposed terrain at ~9800', doubt it'll last though. that SH was also present on top of the sheltered/protected pow which added some pleasantness to the skiing
views were nice for sure.
wind filled some stuff in, turns were soft and fast if not terribly deep
no real sluffing or anything. good turns to be found still for sure

Big thanks to Snowbird patrol for having a bunch of stuff open much earlier in the season then I've seen. Gad 2 touring, Mt Baldy hike, Chamonix chutes. So much fun right now.

Anyone know the details of the 60 year old thatsied at Brighton last week? I heard he avoided a border and then ran into a tree? Any info on the location where it happened. Bit scary as I and my kids ski there every week.

Of course it is. I left this morning after spending a cold but sunny week. I’ll be back in two weeks, just need to time my trips better. Of course the wife looked at the forecast and insisted I stay, but it’s a trap. Nearly 20 years of marriage I know better.
I hope to see some stoke pics over the next 48 hours.

"Is there an inbounds approach that’s more of a pain in the ass than the east castle side step? Or maybe I’m just a fatass."
Trick is to make 2 Devil's Castle laps for one East Castle lap...keeps your upper legs the same size.
Seriously, I don't know why no one puts in a boot pack on day 2 of the East Castle being open...

Don't ski Extrovert with new snow and no knowledge. All other rocks are worth hitting.
Boy I wish I knew how to keep the old post in that cute little box, so folks would know what post I was commenting on.
Give the FOG another few years and I'll be able to figure that out.

I got reamed by an old timer last time I did that. Funny thing was I rode the lift with him right before and he was all smiles, ha. Due to a bad hip flexor I had to boot pack. I told him to fuck off as it was so hard packed I was barely making a dent. Can’t please everyone that’s for sure.
