After offering rides on Snowbird’s R.I.D.E app for the last month or so I finally had someone interested. I kept a car out of LCC by giving a ride to the Utah Jazz sideline reporter, super sweet girl and I was happy to keep the traffic down by ridesharing.

I call BS on this line: "Our net increase in skier visits from the Ikon Pass is currently running roughly 3%"

    Lies, damn lies, and statistics...

    Agree with you dshack.

I was told by Alta marketing a few weeks ago (when I asked point blank about Ikon) that they weren't yet able to calculate what the net difference in skiers because of Ikon was, so I wonder what changed since February to allow them to figure that one out.

Some damn good turns on the Alta periphery and inbounds this week. Looks like more to come. I'm gonna start carrying a camera again soon.

This might be a long shot, but I'm a pro patroller from Tahoe who is heading to the Wasatch for a few days next week. Potentially moving to the area for the old lady's schooling in a year or two. I'm hoping to check out a few of the patrols, but have almost zero connections in Utah. Any help? Connections? Advice? Ticket help? Anything, including a friendly middle finger, is appreciated.

To circle back on the Ikon crowding discussion...Alta, Jackson, and Aspen all came out with very similar statements this week regarding the predominant increase in skier traffic being due to local passholders and not Ikon...I would guess they were either instructed to make such statements or supplied with the models by Alterra for them to calculate and reach the same conclusion.

Why don't you have the manager at the resort you patrol make some phone calls? That's how I've always done it and it always works out..... Looking for hook ups on a public ski forum doesn't seem to be a very "pro" move

Indeed, it would be preposterous to suggest that on great snow years season passholders spend more days skiing.

Not what I'm suggesting at all. It's odd that all of these resorts did not have the data a month ago and happened to all get the ability to analyze at the same time and come to the same conclusion.
