anyone out today, were the winds as bad as forecasted? I saw something like 30-40/70G WSW on the NWS page, but doesn't look like that panned out...

Weekend warrior here. Went to solitude on Saturday. Very good skiing in the morning. Also picked up my Ikon pass for solitude this summer. From talking with others on the lift, solitude will be an even greater multitude than this year. Have a hard time though seeing how parking and canyon drives isn't the ultimate deterrent of higher ski traffic during holidays and weekends.

I kind of hate the Brighton periphery for some reason but it seemed like a reasonable call for today. Windy, and we were on the lookout for wind slabs forming... found some due north, but due east was ok.

I swear there's been a thick cloud following me around the range lately. Wednesday it chased me around the Mower, Thursday it came over to fuck with me Gobbs. Caught me right at the top and after 20 minutes I decided to ignore it and centerpunch, skied straight into the only frozen pinwheel on the face since I couldn't even see the tips of my skis. Got to the flats and the cloud lifted, luring me back for another run. It came back just in time to screw me out of a proper Davis Gulch run then left as soon as I gave up and headed down.
Saturday it came with me up Red Baldy to make sure I couldn't ski Icefall. Made me freeze to death on the summit and forced me to drop the NW face and deal with the 12 or so people who were going to go somewhere else but then decided to follow the skinner (lazy bags of dicks, use your imagination or help break trail!!). The usual pattern followed: cloud disappears, I run back up the skinner, cloud pops back out of nowhere for a full whiteout experience. This time I tried to wait it out but eventually got bored of shouting in the wind, threatening Jeebus and pleading with Ullr. The second I hit the flats it cleared out. Decided to head up TriChutes in the blazing sun and what do you know, the cloud felt I was ready to drop a few hundred feet off the top and came right back. Skied the whole shot by feel. I'm over it.

WASATCH STOKE, CONDITIONS, OBSERVATIONS, AND ASSORTED DRIVAL 18-19

Snow falling today was super manky up to 11,000' and probably beyond. The snow was pretty much saturated with water. Could be a stout crust if we get a good freeze tonight.

Love your posts...but maybe you should shower more often?
Sounds like Pig Pen in Charlie Brown; a cloud that follows you around...
Icefall is one of the better runs in the range when in condition...
    Sorry you pig penned it!

I call it the angry storm cloud of injustice. It's targeting me because I bitch more than anyone else skiing the range... It got fresh ammo on Red Baldy, I popped something in my harmstring and the cursing was out of this world.
Can't be about showering, Ms Boissal would have me sleeping with the cats if I got too grubby.
Icefall is my new nemesis, I needed a fresh one after ticking the NW Twins. There's always that one run that you can't get right no matter how many times you try.

You guy should rejoice though, guaranteed blue bird goodness this weekend, I'm taking the cloud with me to Idaho for a few days.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

I wish. Used my "sick" karma last Wednesday and Thursday. I'll be up there this weekend though if any mags want to make some turns or BBQ. Will have my grill out somewhere in carpool parking for high boy. Will drop pin with the location Sunday AM in this thread.
