Yesterday’s “storm” put down a thin layer of graupel above 7k in the Ogden mountains. This was on top of a 2cm melt freeze crust above slushy snow. I didn’t get high enough to check conditions above 8k.

    Hey Wasatchers,
Question on accessing Cutler Ridge/Ben Lomond area. Is the road typically plowed all the way to Camp Utaba/North Fork trailhead area? Looks like it may be getting a little crusty up there based on zion zig zag's comment and looking at snotel....

    Thanks

Yes road is plowed to Utaba. Parking is just past the north gate road. North gate road to the cutler ridge trail is groomed.

^ wednesday's 1-2" was spread around by the wind and had surprisingly filled in tracks. today added up to 4" which made for some solid turns on w, nw, and n facing aspects. e facing was dust on crust with manageable sluffing. happy holidays it is

I’m gone this weekend but normally around. Let me know if you’re in the area.

Upper elevation e facing skied pretty good but could feel the bottom here and there. Got some sloughing on steeper ne facing. South was dust on crust-ish and getting baked today.

North facing stuff was really good today. As everyone else mentioned there was definitely some crunchiness under the surface on the south side. Still damn fun though.

WASATCH STOKE, CONDITIONS, OBSERVATIONS, AND ASSORTED DRIVAL 18-19

Found 8-10" of low density snow on E aspects this morning. Lots of low energy surface sluffing. Also lots that ran naturally during the storm.

First time trying to film with the drone in the same zone earlier in the week.

Sounds like this storm is getting downgraded. I don’t know if I’m misremembering, but have we had any storms this year that dropped 12 inches overnight or during the day at all?

Conditions were great today, although there was some-low level self-absorption of about 50% of tourers encountered out there today. Say hi, dinks. Bet you'll be talkin' to me if yer buddy needs a rescue, even a headnod is fine when I pass within 1' or 2' of ya. Weirdos.

No kidding. This shit drives me crazy. You're out having a good time act like it. It's also the biggest change I've noticed in the BC in the last decade or so. Casual conversation and passing the pipe with strangers used to feel like the norm.

    Low level self absorption!
    Omg I love it.

Indeed the former chill conversational personality has dried up the past few years. Ahhh wasAngeles.

Thanks for all the updates. Been busy elsewhere lately but nice to see y’all getting after it!!

A few days ago my wife noticed that Alta had made a change to their grooming report. It's awesome, you can look and see exactly what is and is not groomed. I am guessing that if its listed on the grooming report they intend to groom them at some point during the season. So far even though they are shown they have not groomed Westward Ho, Yellow Trail, Eagles Nest, Eddie's High Nowhere or Devils Castle.

Skiing's cool, especially when it's in 10" of new low density stacked on 5" of newish medium density.

Saw at least three slides within the new snow that covered skinners. Two in Toldedo and one on Patsy Marley.

Skied from 5600 to 8500 feet today E and NE facing. 3-4" low density snow on top of some wind buffed cream. Some wind slabiness noted in cross loaded areas, jumped on some in short/steep test locations and couldn't get any movement or cracking. Good snow all the way down to 6000 feet where it started to get too brushy for turns. Cold temps but almost no wind.
