So bummed to take a right on foothill instead of a left on 215 today.

Easy 14 at my house at 6am.

Despite some late night work-related shenanigans I channeled my inner mallwalker and went for an early stroll. Someone's gotta keep the morning updates going while he's out crushing the GT!
You can tell it's almost April when there's a foot of fresh snow with more in the forecast and you only see 2 cars in the Cardiff lot at 6:30. Goooooooooood. I hear mountain biking and choss scrambling are excellent right now...
Found about 8" of dense pow at 7500' and at least 15" at 10k. Rough trail breaking due to a slight density inversion, odd considering the temps have been dropping steadily throughout the night. I suspect the wind is to blame, it was pretty gusty up high. Standard spring weather with the occasional sun ray followed by intense squalls of fluff and/or graupel. Skied a bit weird in open terrain but it was faceshot central in sheltered areas. Lots of sluffing of the lazy variety and a few predictable wind slabs, it would take some lack of attention to get in trouble. If the sun doesn't poke through tomorrow is going to be juicy!

Seriously - I went 215 past the 6200 exit and was grumpy. Still am sitting in my office as friends in town are up. Meet up for leftovers tomorrow.

Agree on snow - had 12-14” in lower summit park. With some decent wind.

figured with the lcc closure, hit west bowl from solitude. saw about 14", winds from the nw and some light cracking but minimal movement of the new snow. faceshots a plenty and only hit the underneath on the first 3-4 turns of lap 1 and 2 off the ridge. pretty much said fuck it to my internal at 11 and did a third lap. saw only 1 cat in west bowl and 3 on the ridge who were heading the emma's. dig it when 4-8" turns to 14". get after it.

Underpromise and overdeliver has been every storm's MO this season.
NOAA was calling for 6-16" storm total and 8-12" overnight. Not sure how that math works but I'll take it!

Managed to pull off getting my sewer fixed by 1 pm (luckily very minor backup with no significant damage) and the family still wanted to go up to the Bird to sightsee. Managed to ski pow for an hour and a half after all. Still nuking at 4 pm. Tomorrow morning should be good! Pretty sweet to spend 5 days of perfect weather in Moab then come home to ski pow!

Solitude was really really good. Still snowing when I left at 330 and the sun poked through for <5minutes over the entire day. Tomorrow should be equally nice

Not bad at all today. Got a nice line on the east face right as the sun hit it and then crossed the canyon and got a couple of west face’s before it got too warm. Was feeling pretty damp at 8800 by the exit at noon.

Did my annual LCC ski day, Wandered over to Lake Peak and did a lap, then decided that Tri-Chutes looked good, so we went over there. The clouds and snow helped keep the temps in check, but it was getting manky in the late afternoon.Name: 0330191033.jpg

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Got lucky on timing and was the 2nd (public) person thru the gate to Baldy, skiied Little Chute. Top was a hard crust but the bottom 2/3 was fantastic. I then immediately headed over to East Castle with my skins and cruised up past all the sidesteppers and had a top 5 line for the season.

Decided to end on a good note so went home and took my wife, 3 month old daughter, and 2 dogs skinning up the Millcreek Road.

What a life we live out here!

Thanks for a rad day Alta and Snowbird SP. First person through the Baldy Chutes gate from the SB side. Finally got to ski Perla's and it was $$$. Wound up doing dog leg and Main as well. Now I'm tired.
