Today was a sneaker day. Best day of the year at Snowbird, unreal! Mother Nature did a putting green grooming job with the heavy snow, and then 6" on top. Wind was blowing the snow from Mineral over to the front side, fresh tracks every run. Hero snow. Sick. I had no idea this morning it was going to be that good.

Snowbird has their new app out, R.I.D.E. Hopefully it works to cut down on canyon traffic.

Jeeepers it's been fun out there. Dense snow and strong winds does a good job of filling in the cracks. I've skied some in bounds stuff that I didn't know existed. One of these days I'll grab for a camera but I've been too busy playing catch up. It's gonna be a crazy weekend.

Snowbird has already talked about partnering with other Wasatch resorts on it’s use. Their marketing manager (DigiDave) has already mentioned it’d be a good tool for backcountry users to arrange rides as well.
After watching nothing be done to alleviate the problem I’ve gotta give Snowbird some kudos for attempting something new.
It’s a bit clunky right now but I have faith they’ll get it together.

I've been a-roamin', I've been a-ramblin'
another best day of the year? deepest 6" I've skied in a while. aside from some obvious and pretty limited wind affected stuff, just perfect stable pow (where I traveled anyway) all aspects, all elevations, all day. hope you all got out there, it was killer
if you get up early enough, it's just you and whatever leaves these tracks
tits deep in west willow and not another soul in sight, good enough for thirds
sun came out a bit around noon and it got warm, but didn't last too long and hopefully no damage done to the solars
everyone getting after it, heard a lot of whoops across drainages
the best kinda hazy snowy light pretty much all day. exit via shangri la, had me smiling until I remembered the fucking road. oh well... live and learn

Sad vibes up at Alta today. Some chick hit a tree and had to be taken out via Air Med. And then on the way out, one of the houses on the bypass road was going up in flames. Literally. There were flames coming out of the roof. Two heavy rescue trucks, 1 pump truck, 2 regular fire trucks and 3 ambulances came up the canyon as we were leaving. Scary. Hope everyone is alright.
In other news, Alta was skiing very well today. West Rustler was soft and chopped, snow stayed pretty cold I think. Didn't get up till 1 but was very pleasantly surprised.

02-16-2019, 07:23 PM #1390I need to go to Utah.
Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?
So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....
Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

today was really good at snowbasin. opened up sisters for the first time in a week (maybe less or more no idea). 6" with more in pockets. Crowds there but not terrible. I never left strawberry.
saw that tram/no name were both open but no idea how they skied. good ass day for presidents day weekend.
blower pow is sick as hell and we don't get that much at snowbasin.

Hero snow and stability on all aspects of the compass today, skiing lines that don't always fill in. Starting to be confused about which is the best day of the year after this cycle.

The Bird wasn't too busy today for the most part and the snow is holding up great! Renewed my faith in weekend skiing, a little.
