Yeah, this is the first time in at least five seasons that I have been thoroughly impressed with their speed in getting terrain open. Most days this season it's like holy shit, baldy/cirque are open already?!

Snuck in a Little Pine lap before work yesterday. Went up White Pine with the intent of skiing it but between the chunder from previous days and the 1"+ crust we decided to abort and get into LP which is looked less like a war zone. Greenhousing must have been particularly strong Sunday afternoon to fuck up everything up to 10k so fast. The headwall was med-density pow over sharks with the occasional touch of crust, the gut was full of soft and highly shreddable debris with a couple of devious ice balls (thanks to the poor saps who made it to the top of the debris before dropping in and left the headwall alone), and the apron was $$$. Oddly quiet out, saw one headlamp on Scotties & one guy booting the Needle. Nobody in the Y. Gorgeous morning, even if the skiing had sucked the sunrise and views would have made it worthy!
This isn't Bimboes on the Bec but still, #nowiggles

Friday Night
6:00 pm: Your flight lands at the Salt Lake City International Airport and its time to sort out your transportation up to the mountain. If you are going to go the rental car route, be sure to get something with all-wheel drive and snow tires just in case it is going to be snowing during your trip.

The Summit. Not only can you get some really great food, but the views are incredible. The Summit sits at 11,000 feet and there are enormous windows surrounding pretty much the entire building providing excellent views of Little Cottonwood, the Salt Lake Valley and Mineral Basin.
And you can see the glare from the sun all the way across the valley at the South Jordan dump. It's Soo great.

Storm tonight is starting to look potent! Have family in town and was planning to take them to lunch at the summit but that may not be a viable option. Guess they'll get to experience the LCC shitshow lol.

Easy 14 at my house at 6am.

Despite some late night work-related shenanigans I channeled my inner mallwalker and went for an early stroll. Someone's gotta keep the morning updates going while he's out crushing the GT!
You can tell it's almost April when there's a foot of fresh snow with more in the forecast and you only see 2 cars in the Cardiff lot at 6:30. Goooooooooood. I hear mountain biking and choss scrambling are excellent right now...
Found about 8" of dense pow at 7500' and at least 15" at 10k. Rough trail breaking due to a slight density inversion, odd considering the temps have been dropping steadily throughout the night. I suspect the wind is to blame, it was pretty gusty up high. Standard spring weather with the occasional sun ray followed by intense squalls of fluff and/or graupel. Skied a bit weird in open terrain but it was faceshot central in sheltered areas. Lots of sluffing of the lazy variety and a few predictable wind slabs, it would take some lack of attention to get in trouble. If the sun doesn't poke through tomorrow is going to be juicy!

figured with the lcc closure, hit west bowl from solitude. saw about 14", winds from the nw and some light cracking but minimal movement of the new snow. faceshots a plenty and only hit the underneath on the first 3-4 turns of lap 1 and 2 off the ridge. pretty much said fuck it to my internal at 11 and did a third lap. saw only 1 cat in west bowl and 3 on the ridge who were heading the emma's. dig it when 4-8" turns to 14". get after it.

It's spring. Work will be there tomorrow, pow may not! You called it right.
Underpromise and overdeliver has been every storm's MO this season.
NOAA was calling for 6-16" storm total and 8-12" overnight. Not sure how that math works but I'll take it!

Managed to pull off getting my sewer fixed by 1 pm (luckily very minor backup with no significant damage) and the family still wanted to go up to the Bird to sightsee. Managed to ski pow for an hour and a half after all. Still nuking at 4 pm. Tomorrow morning should be good! Pretty sweet to spend 5 days of perfect weather in Moab then come home to ski pow!

Solitude was really really good. Still snowing when I left at 330 and the sun poked through for <5minutes over the entire day. Tomorrow should be equally nice
