I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Snow Basin was creamed tits today.

Apologies to Utards, the PM notification didn't work, so just got the msgs.

I want to start rolling Puget Sound way tomorrow, so one more day here in Ogden, then I'll roll NW, probably stopping Friday night somewhere to avoid the snowstorm forecast for home.

    Saturday at Anthony Lakes likely.

    Fuck, not again:

Crews searching for southern Utah snowmobiler lost in avalanche
    https://www.ksl.com/article/46486109...t-in-avalanche

CIRCLEVILLE, Piute County — Crews are searching for a snowmobiler who got lost in an avalanche Thursday evening.

Three men from Washington County were in the "bowl" area on Circleville Mountain near Circleville in Piute County about 5 p.m. The area is popular for more advanced snowmobilers, Beaver County Sheriff's Sgt. Glen Woolsey said.

Two of the snowmobilers started to ride to the bowl, Woolsey said, and the man riding behind them saw the avalanche break away and his friends get caught in it.

The man couldn't see the two other riders for a "period of time," Woolsey said, but he then spotted one of the men, who was partially buried, emerge from the snow and start waving at him. That man was injured in the avalanche, but Woolsey did not have additional information about those injuries.

The other man and his snowmobile had not been found as of late Thursday evening, according to the sergeant.

Because of new snow and "danger in the area involved, it would create a major hazard for our search and rescue to go up there in the dark," Woolsey said.

A Department of Public Safety helicopter was flying over the area to look for the man Thursday night. Authorities were also trying to ping his cell phone.

Search and rescue crews will go to the area early Friday morning to continue searching for the man, Woolsey said.

Nice morning for a walk. Little bit brisk though, the wind is really not doing any favors to snow up high. Lower down is still holding really nice turns, even S facing

Caught the Catherine's rope drop this AM. Wind really hammered the snow up high. Skied north, west and south aspects 9500+ that all had a breakable wind crust, and was pretty slabby. Bet the snow in that 8-9k range is a whole lot better.

Was gonna stick around to catch a lap on the shoulder too but decided it wasn't worth it.

I picked Snowbird today over Alta. Cirque was stellar, great snow in there, seem protected from the wind vs. Alta. MB never opened, and the wind was hammering it all day.

Was standing in the singles line when a group of Ikons (passes hanging outside jackets) walk into the collins corral to put their skis on. Gopro on top of head on one guy, powder straps full send behind another guy. Fine, whatever.

Move up a couple quads from them and another Ikon says "Devil's castle is closed, which is the way to get to sugarloaf."

Body recovered late this morning. 41-year-old guy from St Georges. Not many details at this point. Super sad...

+1 on the winds today. Insane amounts of snow moving above 10k. Made the skinning extremely challenging considering it wasn't super deep. The Birthday Chutes looked like they were getting primed for a monster slide. The plumes off the LCC/BCC ridgeline were gigantic.
People were getting after it in Tanners and Maybird. Look like Little Pine saw some action although the tracks stopped below the headwall and could be debris, I was a bit too far to be certain. Weird action in Tanners, there was a group stopped a bit below the exit of the upper couloir who did not move for the 30 or so minutes we could see them. Hope they were just having lunch or setting up for pictures and not in some form of trouble.
