Yesterday afternoon while walking to our car (in the car pool area, doing our part) the Alta Town Marshall was driving past the front entrance of the GMD and a guy in a SUV opened his window and flagged him down. He says "hey, there is a little Honda sedan stuck in the first aisle, definitely a 2WD, you should go write him a ticket, road was restricted this morning, he should not be up here". I looked and the road restriction sign was not flashing so I thought a ticket may not be appropriate. Anyway the Marshall turned down the front aisle watching the guy in the sedan trying to move. I am standing outside our car waiting for my wife and the Marshall sat in his car for about two minutes, turned around and drove away. At the very least he should have let the driver know they are in violation, maybe write a warning ticket but nope, not a thing.

I'm always a couple of hours behind mall walker but I usually agree with his sentiments. What a fucking morning!

Alta was so good today. That quick hitter early in the AM refreshed everything and Ballroom / Castle did not disappoint.
Thinking about taking my dogs up to PC / DV for a tour. Any intel on how friendly the various resorts are to uphillers given they are closed? PM me if necessary. Thanks!!

Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?
So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Partner and I are headed to Joe's Valley to boulder next weekend and we're looking for a driveway to park our van in Saturday night and sleep before rolling back to BZN on Sunday. We're self-contained and low profile. Beers from MT as payment. Thanks.

I think the thing that stands out about this season, to me, is the point and shoot nature of it. What I mean is that you can head up a drainage, spot a line you've never skied, and ski it safely in good conditions.
It just seems like we've had so many days where the stability is good on all aspects, the snow is good on all aspects, and the coverage is good on all aspects. Even in other big years I don't remember it being that easy.

2011 might have been better overall but there was so much snow that year so you might be right in the sense new snow instabilities have been more manageable this year. Either way, yesterday was one of best days of the season because the low viz added adversity to an otherwise point and shoot season.
We started early in anticipation of the sun wrecking things only to make three trips up and down a LCC summit before finally being able to spot the small mandatory air for a run into American Fork canyon. As an added bonus the cold gloomy first half of the day made a sunny Tri, Birthday, west facing Scotties, good snow exit trifecta possible for an 11.5k eleven hour day.

P.S. I agree with everyone in saying that mall walker (as well as Boissal, Brutah, dfin, and many others) have been killing it this year with pics and obs.

Criscam. You can see the small soft slab that he touched off behind him. Manageable.
