Looks like I'll be up at Brighton Saturday and Sunday. Won't be last week, but should be a good time to get my legs out of early season conditioning.

Curious what Solitude crowds will be like now that the early season, fresh snow has faded.

Snowbird was empty AF yesterday and good stuff found off of and below gad 2. Buncha laps on the billygoats then switched to my black skis of death for trenchdigging duties. Wish it was deep powz but making the most of it.

Nice! Lapped Gad 2 for a few hours weds after they opened everything. One of my favorite lifts to hot lap solo.

Also a dude lost his ski in STH and a patroller helped him look for it for almost 2 hours. Never did find it. Dug out the whole entrance to a line I had been skiing though lol.

Damn, looked like there were a lot of sharks in there last Sunday. I'm surprised they opened that gate.

Didn't hit anything in there, but Rock Chute was open and very deserving of the name!

pretty sure udot hosted a canyon traffic open meeting back in aug/sept
    i didnt make it
nobody representing the resorts did either
    go figure
headed up a large slidepath on a sweet skinner the pond o pow set for sum character buildin and gear harshening
    cougar and prey signs abound
above 8500 started getting large collapses and basal facets in hasties increasing and pack structure stability decreasing
with large ground and tree shaking whoomphins becoming frequent on the last pitch fore the headwall
i woulda thunk theyd been less frequent as the volunteer slope stability tester who put the skinner in weds. reported the same
not nuch natural activity small pont releases on the rocks of the ne coluliars
made it up to the headwall base kush powered and hopin the cats didnt see the guy coughin up lung chunks as easy pickin wounded prey
snow surface and skiing conditions pretty damn good up top

    well you can ski
ze right of the slide path
or ze left of the slide path
but your not gonna ski ze middle at this point

like a 70's porn beav it sure needs sums trimmins

and id recommend left or waiting for another dump or 2
    or hopin history repeats itself

Brighton was a ton of fun today. Opening Milly really tamed up the crowds. Didn't ever wait more than a minute to get back on the lift. Snow was pretty good despite opening Thursday. Might go up tomorrow to get some groomers reps in to patch up the form some more. 5 year old had a blast in ski school and got to do two runs on Majestic (according to her it's the lift with teenagers and college kids ).

Major and very gnarly wreck this morning going up LCC. Apparently a UTA bus was empty (except driver) and spun out going down hill, lost control slid into and hit at least 2 (but I think I saw 4 cars hit). Got out to try and help along with what seemed like 10 others. Tried to help a guy in a blue BMW who had his leg pinned by the metal. An off duty medic was there already helping him out. Unified fire showed up 60 seconds later.

Don't know if the bus driver was being reckless, or was unlucky with an empty bus, but it one of the worst accidents I'd seen up there. Don't know how to prevent that kind of thing in the future.

Skiing at Alta was great. Groomers were excellent and people were happy. Was nice to get out of the inversion.

Wow....those skis have seen some Wasatch snow. Had my worst wreck ever in supreme bowl on those. No thanks needed. In fact thank you for giving them life and seemingly regular use. #roostertails
