I like having Sunday off to have a weekend day off with friends that work a regular schedule. If crowds are your chief concern, Friday is a better day to be in the BC. Fridays are noticeably lighter than Sunday.

    Question for the collective:
If one could pick Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday for working, what would it be?
Especially for the obscure, not worried about powder frenzy in the central Wasatch,
Would you rather have Friday or Sunday in the back country?
    Not just for the Wasatch...
(Haven't had Friday Saturday or Sunday off in 30? years).
ZZZ, Dan, Brutah, Boissal, et al, please sound off...
I'd have to say Friday. Even for the obscure stuff, a lot of it has been picked off by Sunday. Friday has a decent chance of skiing good snow from earlier in the week. That being said....I skied a lot of good Sunday pow last year.

Either way, I look forward to getting out with you this winter.

And if it’s crowded at the resort on the weekend which it usually is you’re wearing the red coat to skip lines

seems to me ifin ya had either a Monday-Friday ski week
    or a sunday thru Thursday
which day ya needs to wage slave probably shouldn't be based on what ya didn't git skied during your ski week

On an unrelated note, it looks like there are still a few turns to be had in upper Bells:

    I was being dramatic.
    As usual.
Don't have to pick days off / working 'til Nov. 16.
    Thanks! Appreciate the input.

Actually this is a related note.
Is the crest of the B.W. / Rocky Mouth divide more crowded on Friday or Sunday?

When it comes to bumming, I would trust the skifishbum.
I like having a weekend day off to hang out with my 9 to 5 friends, go to dinner parties, etc.
But that may be a moot point for ya
Fridays will be your busiest week days, but nothing will top the crowds on the weekends.

Ok then. Poll is closed cause all the obscure mofos I asked to respond and more have unanimously stated to take Friday over Sunday. Cept for better half and social opportunity element.
Thanks boys, looking forward to making obscure backcountry outings with y'all.

Trying to squeeze in a little more high country bike action this week. Looks like that was the right call.

The likelihood of running into a skinny-sticks mustachioed bro is actually higher on Fridays up there.

It's true. I ran into two young bros with skinny-sticks in Bells last June on a weekday.

It doesn't appear you ran into anyone based on your photos

Not based on the pics above, but I caught up with and chatted with two young rippers on skinny rando skis at the base of Lone following a 3:00 AM start. I looked on Insta etc—the TGR Wasatch thread isn't the go to place like it used to be—for a TR afterwards but I never saw anything posted at the time.

TGR spray reach is way too limited in the world of posts with 25 different hashtags. This place barely gives you 3 likes when hundreds of stranger could adore you on IG. That and divulging all your stashes on Strava is the preferred way to slay the BC these days, it gave birth to the I-go-where-you-went crowd.

I find it IMPOSSIBLE to believe that someone skied Lone Peak this year and didn't spray about it on IG. Shit, even I am doing it and I'm old and I hate people.
But are you even doing it if people don't like it online?

Heh, maybe they'll chime in. On that day it was necessary to bail 2/3rds from the top because of the angry sun so maybe it wasn't worth claiming. It's kind of hard to see the tracks but here's a photo taken later of where it was necessary to side step and then boot around the lower cliff bands:

Seems about right, that section didn't go clean in (read: without hucking) in early March and it was filled to the gills.

Never got busted in the past ....

The Utah Department of Transportation requires ALL vehicles travelling in Big and Little Cottonwood canyons to be equipped with approved snow tires October 1st through April 30th. Approved tires can be identified by an M+S (mud and snow) or a Snowflake symbol on the sidewall of the tire
