WASATCH STOKE, CONDITIONS, OBSERVATIONS, AND ASSORTED DRIVAL 18-19
I need to go to Utah.
Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?
So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....
Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Stellar morning at Alta, was skiing on a demo ski from my shop and one of the Griffon heel pieces failed (teeth on the locking mech are super rounded so won't lock in a position) on my 6th lap. Luckily right after that they closed High T and Wildcat anyway so not too upset haha

Fook yeah, nice work!! The N couloir is a sleeper beauty, doesn't really see much action but it's very worthy, especially now that it's completely filled in. In early Jan the choke didn't go and we had to sneak into a ramp skiers left, now it looks like the choke is almost gone and the couloir is more than 20' wide. Amazing how much snow there is. There are dozens of sneaky lines though those big cliff bands that probably only go in a 2011/207/2019 type season...
Edit: may have already posted this but it shows the area you guys sidestepped, just left of buddy Drew, it was all rocks. The cliff above him is GONE in your pic (it's not the big guy on the exit).

Ogden mountains were supportable on west faces two days ago. I'm wondering if that wind board deteriorated to punch through, or if it turned to corn. Anybody find any supportable out there this morning?

I did 6 laps at powder mountain with my dogs this morning. The corn was fantastic, but I was sticking to lower angle stuff that was most likely a groomer in it's former life.

Mike Maughan posted this on Alta's website, re: traffic solutions in LCC.
https://www.alta.com/blog/lcc-traffic-solutions
I like the fact he is not talking about tunnels, trains, gondolas etc, "keep it real". No need to raise the fines for not having properly equipped vehicles, just enforce the current regulations.
UPD: TO OBSERVE & IGNORE

If anyone else is Frankin' it up tomorrow I'll probably be tailgating in the wildcat lot a good chunk of the day since my wife is still on IR. Black F150 with a shell and a roof rack, ask for change and maybe you'll get a hot dog!

The rest of my crew gave up on the season last week so it’ll just be me and my 7yo. I’ll try to come by and ask for change though.

Sick photos man. That morning was great, and good to meet you. Better late than never, but here's a couple of pics:
Also, yesterday turned out to be great. Non-mag Will and I took the slowest approach ever up to Thunderstruck. Considering the weak refreeze and forecasted early sun, we planned to get up early(started at 5), but once clouds settled in, we took our time and had a nap up top. Lightning Bolt looked good so we skied that instead.
Will is thinking about nothing else but making this turn
I'm thinking, "hmmm, maybe I should get a puppy"
The actual chute section is steep and fun, although the snow was very inconsistent; it went pretty fast. Once above the big ass cliff and through the ramp, things got slower.
Decent amount of sidestepping. As you went further skiers left, the exposure lessens, but snow depth decreases, rocks and difficulty increase. It was very tempting to punch it through, but it seemed like a prime habitat for sharks and the snow below(almost all debris and runnels) was not conducive to high speed turns.
Glad that's over
Successfully traversed from the bottom of the chute to (almost) the top of little superior, which was manky but fun @10am.
