Thinking Brighton on Saturday for a get ski legs day. Anybody planning to go up?
I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

I was just up there today, not too bad for being wrod. Barely any ice, but it did end up being 45 today. Looks like they are going to open crest probably this weekend, guns were going full blast all day today.

Was yesterday, loading every other chair for crowd control. Was fun to be out skiing again, but looking across the canyon I couldn't help feeling like we should have brought bikes and rode Crest-Mill D instead.

Bottom line is that with population and ski area use exploding in the Wasatch and forecasted to continue,
why would Alta give up their private land in Grizzly Gulch?
When the logical development to connect the Cottonwoods is above ground?
Didn't need to spend 7 mil. to figure that out...
When you add climate change to the picture,
that'll be some of the better lift served skiing in the neighborhood in 20 years.
And if that excludes them from this country club, oh well.
Time spent skiing cannot be deducted from one's life.

No doubt that giving up grizzly is foolish but according to article they were offered to keep grizzly if they gave up future interest on pasty which isn’t private land.

wait, are you saying that it's ok to allow more recreation in upper Little Cottonwood? that's almost as bold as trying to remove Wilderness designation to allow more mountain biking!!!

One of Alta’s core values is to preserve the skiing experience for our skiers. Alta has operated snowcat skiing on its private lands in Grizzly Gulch for the past 15 years. Retaining Grizzly Gulch will allow Alta to continue operations of its snowcat skiing program, as well as, accommodate future growth in our region so that our skiers can experience incredible ski days for years to come. We recognize the importance the Grizzly Gulch access provides the backcountry community...

Great terrian in there for sure, but gets sunfucked pretty quick. Good for storm days and right after and corn n shit, but crusts can develop pretty quick when its right in the line of fire from the sun. Add climate change into the equation and it could get even worse

Looks like up to 30” in the cottonwoods by Sunday. Not bad. I’ll be cruising the wrod at Alta Friday-Sunday. If you a guy with old beat up bonafides and a green jacket ask for change.

Alta would be foolish to give up Grizzly. It would be like giving way a pair of aces. Someone wants that land and I suspect developers are the guilty party.

Why do you think that? That's almost conspiracy-level theory, but I'm sure it's been thought over at some point, maybe many times.

I thought I read somewhere it would be hard/impossible due to no water or maybe septic?

    Snow tires!

I have 4 good 14" snowtires on allow rims off my old 96 imprezza. Thought they would fit my sons 2006 but they don't quite clear the front calipers.

FREE to any ski bum who wants them. First PM. I'm out of town (SLC) till sunday.

If you never had snow tires you are in for a treat....
