The Alps are wonderful. Can confirm!

Decompressing on Ligurian Coast after 2 weeks in Valle d’Aosta. 2 weeks of sun, corn, chalk, gelato, Gamay, touring, groomer ripping on Monsters, etc etc. TR coming when back in NZ.

Well done, all of you on EuroBBI.

    Haha anytime!

So excited about fresh powder tomorrow that I’m hiking up the mountain at 5.30am for a nice run down before the lifts open.

Funny, I'm doing the same thing. Chilling in Levanto after two weeks in Aosta, Cham, and Alagna. Great minds think alike.
Looks like BBI Europe was great. Maybe next time...

Thirded. Looking forward to making turns with you guys again next year.

Northwest Slider and Willy having fun at Disentis. These turns were 5 days after the last storm and required no hiking.

Michele I remember when we met in Lenzerheide so long ago you spoke of your dreams and plans to make these things happen.. and you have. Much respect.

When we are in Ch next Sharon and I will definitely make plans to stay with you. Also because you are so close to the wonderful towns of Cunter, Spinas and Bever. Not to mention Tschiertschen

Walking out the Maderenertal to Bristen after the Oberalpstock:

Rough cost breakdown for 17 days

Flight on KLM/Airfrance with seat upgrades, no bag fees: $600.
7 day within a month Eurail pass: $350, good for Switzerland, France, Austria and Italy.
2 days Airolo (free lodging, thanks subtle plague) $120*
5 days St. Anton lodging, food, drinks, lifts, guiding for 2 days: $1100.
2 days Davos/Klosters lodging, food, drinks, lifts: $350
5 days SkiArena, St. Moritz, lodging, food, drinks, lifts, guiding: $600*
ZRH lodging night before flight: $130 (btw: the Moevenpick is the best of the ZRH hotels I've used)
    Total* : $3250 or about $200/day.

    *approximate, cost defrayed by friends

One of the old maxims about skiing in Europe was that Switzerland was more expensive than Austria.

In my experience, this is not the case for St. Anton which was the most expensive stop. Even in Klosters, which is known for the posh life, the Wynegg was $90/night including a killer breakfast and a gourmando dinner there was $75 including tip. venduls place was the best lodging by far on the trip.

If I had beelined to venduls place and just skied around the SkiArena with a side trip to St. Moritz, I would not have needed the Eurail pass and lodging at mt-lodge is half of what I paid in Austria.

It worked out to $1500 a person for me and Mrs. LVS for everything but airfare for 10 days at Mt Lodge Sedrun + a stop in Luzern. That includes food, lift tickets, rail passes and incidentals. Pretty cheap for some of the best skiing I’ve ever had.

    Piz Roseg:

I had wanted to do this route for some time; I didn't even have to ask, Matteo just took us there. I was pretty damn keyed.

You bet; skiing Yurp is cheaper than skiing almost anywhere in N. Am (yes, I know one can do Shames for less....but that's one of the very few exceptions).

Admittedly, I sn00ted around a bit so my left nut could be accommodated in style.

Plus, it's just so easy to do the transits from plane to rail to ski area where they HAVE SKIRACKS ON THE TRAINS.

py pic of Bever, where CascadeLuke left his jacket in an attempt to schmooze with the espresso girl.

I'd love to go here for a day to tour around.

I'm procrastinating going to another dumbass interview; plus, nudging that slacker norseman.

Guspis exit to the closed and snow covered Gotthard Pass road. Best part about this is that the road is perfectly inclined so one doesn't have to pole or skate out the last miles.
