Mother nature helping things at Panorama yesterday with 20+cms in the village and another storm coming in right now.
Rumors of opening to public on weekends soon.

My position was eliminated on Monday AM. Company closing down the office in Calgary. On payroll to mid-Jan. Headed to Palm Springs to hang with a bud in La Quinta, four days golf. Back, discuss package with lawyer, and then consider next steps. I need to get to Pano to get my skis, but some day trips from Cowtown to the local mountains may be in the offing.
Thinking of doing the three day ski with the pros at Pano early December. All level 4 instructors should help technique a lot. Doesn’t look like enough time to do my road trip tho....

Have to go to Invermere to bottle wine this weekend. Don't think we're bringing bikes so wondering about a couple of things pano-dude.
I've hiked up there before opening previously a few years ago had no issues. Is it still cool with the hill staff? Should I do it covertly?
Would there be some turns up high? Don't mind skinning down if need be, do it enough not to hate it. Thanks.
Sorry to hear that man. Ski more. Good luck on something new, sometime. Don't rush into it if you don't have to eh.
Hey man, I get 3 free days there with my castle pass. I also don't work and have a buddy living in Jasper these days. I need to ski midweek cause that's when I get the freebies. You able to ski next week at all?
And finally, got to meet shafty85 and soon to be missusshafty85. What an awesome day in the mountains with a mag & magwife who I can't wait to ski with again. Nice old-fat-guy pace bro.

Sucks about the job, what company is leaving Calgary now if you can say?
SSV did not suck today.
Boot top to knee deep on divide. And upper mountain. Standish opened.

Got out on the board today across the valley from Pano. Definitely less snow than last year at this time but fun was had.

Is that the peak on the lookers left side of Paradise Ridge I can see from my hot tub?
My son and his buddy skinned up from the base last spring and were at the base of the peak. Weren’t gonna get up as they had to start going down to beat the dark. Some nice snowmobiler came up and asked if they had skinned from the bottom and if they were heading to the top. They said they didn’t have time. Guy took his skier up and then came back and got the two of them to the top for the run. They had a blast,
Thanks to who ever got them up that last few hundred feet.

That's it. It's an old RK heli ski zone, called "heli run". It's a long way to skin(14km), your kid did well. That's awesome he snagged a shuttle to the top, it's a very nice place to be.
I can be on top from my house in under an hr.

Took a buddies dog for a run up Taynton trail to the bottom of the bowl. A couple of people had skied it, certainly looked ok. The ski out was fine if you stuck to a track.

Ok, It is not in the Rockies but Sun Peaks was the first to open in B.C. last Saturday, Nov. 17.
Skiing was off the Crystal and Elevation chairs and by noon there was enough man made snow on lower 5 mile to ski to the bottom instead of downloading on the Sunburst chair. Gil's Hill (hike to area) was very good.

We're driving from rogers pass over to lake louise tomorrow. Thinking about stopping for a quick tour on kicking horse pass, but have never skied there. Looking at the map, it looks like there'd be a few fairly straightforward options from the road. Is that usually do-able this early in the season? A terrible idea?
Alternatives (I think) would be to just do another day at rogers, or scoot directly to the resort and just run lifts for the afternoon.

Better bet would be go up 93n. Not much snow between golden and louise at the moment. Unless you head north. Sherbrooke might be an option, but not a quick approach.

Do another day on rogers. No-go on KH pass.
Watch for avy control delays this afternoon east of the summit on Rogers

What are some runs skiing OK at Louise these days? Got a friend racing the DH Sat so we'll be skiing the hill, camping at the LL campground. Any ins on a couple of cheap day tickets? Fail safe will be buying a couple of Louise cards. Sunday looking at touring up 93N someplace.
edit, anyone skiing LL Sat want to do a couple of runs?“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”
