Lyrics from this album...
and this song...jeez
[Verse 1]
Welcome to the dark side of my bizarre mind
I'm trapped inside of this amusement park ride
There's an atom bomb inside of my hard drive
I'm holding the apocalypse
Let's take a ride and get lost in this metropolis
Just realized that I'm an idiot
Wearing my disguise, my real face is fucking hideous
My pretty bitch watching Insidious with her pussy out
Awww, Sookie Sookie now
Rapper terrorist, rarer than good parents is
Putting hard drugs inside of all your baby carriages
Arrogance, throwing cherry bombs where the sheriff lives
Just because that shit's hilarious
And I inherited the thirst for self-destruction and I'm scared of it
I wanna be buried with a novel and a chariot
I'm a bigger illusion than good marriages or what it means to be American
(Woah)
[Hook]
I took acid in San Francisco
Stripped butt naked, caused a panic at the disco
Fell for the bimbo that was dancing at the strip show
I gotta stop thinking with my dick-hole (Yo)
I took acid in San Francisco
Stripped butt naked, caused a panic at the disco
Fell for the bimbo that was dancing at the strip show
A genius still thinking with his dick bone
[Verse 2]
Out in Wichita, Kansas, smoking meth with all the locals
Asking them to teach me how to yodel
Suppose I'll die alone from an overdose of some sort
In a motel while some whore fucking running to the drug store
I hacked into the motherboard, argued on a public forum
Uploaded a virus to the network then unplugged the cord
The laws are not important
If you scared lock your door then
I always feel like a foreigner
Morphing into some sort of sorcerer
I'm Yuri's brother if it's Lord of War
What would I be normal for?
I'm going door to door shooting porno's with a good script

I didn't realize Mayer played the guitar on this track for him. That album swimming is pretty damn good.

Caught a Trevor Hall show last night and they broke into Mac's song 2009. Very unexpected, but really cool to hear a little tribute to him. I think Mac Miller is respected by many from multiple spectrums of musical genres.

Last night I was talking to my son about Kobe and (what feels to me a bit like) the over-the-top reaction to his death among a lot of younger people (my son's 24, and it has hit him hard). I was saying how maybe some of it had to do with the fact that younger people generally haven't had to deal with a lot of loss, especially really unexpected loss, of famous contemporary people they admired.
I asked him, I mean who else has gone unexpectedly who you really thought was great, who was around while you've been around, and whose death really affected you? He said Mac Miller instantly.

Mac Miller has had a profound effect upon my son. He is a music major at the University of Miami Frost School of Music and writes beats for a few Miami rappers. He thinks that M.M. is as influential as people like Chuck D, Prof Griff, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Dre and other greats.

When I was involved in the music industry, as a journalist specifically writing about rap (1987 - 1995), it was all about 40s: Old English and St. Ides. Every once in awhile some rapper would drop a line about Guinness or Heineken and 3rd Bass had a signature Brooklyn Lager long before it was trendy for bands to have their own beverages.
Then Puffy and his clique came in and it was about Moet and Crystal.
And then Cypress hill brought the Ganja extremism.
Then E-40 came with the Hurricane.
Also in this timeline we had Eminem talking about shrooms and Mac Dre getting his Thizz on (ecstasy).
Lean and Purp were the next gen, post New School rappers...
Edit: color me out-of-the-loop, as it appears that "lean" can be traced back to the 1960s!
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lean...%20the%201990s.
And the LA Times did a story on sizzurp's history...

Crazy as I didn't hear about either until Lil Wayne!

I love how MM is kicking "Rapper's Delight" at the beginning of the video.
That's the first rap song I recall ever hearing: 8th grade dance in 1980.Last edited by dookey67; 09-08-2021 at 07:56 PM.
