Burt Reynolds RIP
I remember my folks taking me to see Smokey and the Bandit when it first played (surprisingly, the same summer that Star Wars opened and was the only film to give Lucas' epic a run for the money, literally). I also remember my folks taking me to see Cannonball Run.
I didn't dig deeper into his canon until college when I scoped out Deliverance, The Longest Yard (pretty sure I have only seen this one on late night TV, probably in the dorms), and Sharkey's Machine on VHS.
I always loved the outtakes they did at the end of some of Reynold's later films, which, if I am not mistaken, Hal Needham (the director on many of Reynold's goofy action films) popularized (and maybe even created) and which Jackie Chan eventually copped for many of his '80s classics.
I recall really loving the goofs at the end of Cannonball Run as a kid.
