Matterhorn via twin lakes. Skiinable from the car. Super wind fucked, but we pushed through to the west couloir...
Up
Down
Found a small reactive wind slab at the top. The couloir was mostly supportable wind buff. The apron/exit was, as my partner said, “the most variable variable snow conditions I’ve ever skied.” Breakable wind crust, breakable sun crust, rock hard wind affected, soft cold pow...not ideal.
The last 1/4 back down the campground was sketchy and thin.
Overall a great day in the mountains! Skiing was subpar. Pretty decent coverage above 8k all over. Only two photos due to using all my energy to save my knees.

toured out of the convict lake zone this weekend. old man bowl on sun was super wind fucked with the 2/13 rain crust on top on a lot of aspects. skied dust-on-crust, sastrugi, and windslab-on-crust for the most part. found much better conditions in the pinner on mon with 6 inches of fresh on the rain crust at the bottom, and 3 feet or so of unconsolidated/windslab at 10.5k where i turned around. super nice conditions, observed no signs of instability within that wind transported pow. stoked for this 2/20 storm.
