If you use the speed rads, and you go with inserts at least for the heel, later on should you want to go truly ultralight you can just pick up Plum 150 (or Kreuzspitze SCTT) heels with Kreuzspitze 40mm plates (2x heel pieces + 2x plates available from skimo.co for ~220 depending) and swap those in without redrilling. I've done that on 2 setups now and it's a pretty sweet option to have in your back pocket in case you ever come over to the dark weight weenie side.

    Damn those are pretty!

Doobie - I'd go Vipec Evo. 515 grams with brakes. Salomon MTN with brakes is 390g. But that vipec toe is sooooo good - almost an alpine-toe-feel, even on hardpack. Well worth 125 grams per foot I'd say.
    sproing!

Vipec and Ion are a step up in weight but may be worth it.

But then...Ions colorway will clash hard.
I think the decision boils down to choosing between a Vipec and any of the great, lightweight traditional pin bindings. In the latter category, I've felt the greatest pull to come from the ATKs - mostly from the perspective of machining aesthetics as well as no comments about accidental releases (although with respect to the latter, many toes are getting better - G3, etc.).

@auvgeek says that the smart money is to avoid Vipecs in YFYD terrain, but I'm getting to the point where this is no longer an issue for me (if it ever was).

I continually wrestle with the temptation to save weight.

Then, I start wondering if all of these years, whether I've been lucky without having a release from the toe. @Lindahl's comments about nailing something buried with your tip got me thinking, and so, I've been sacrificing weight for release from the toe. I still feel that pull for light however.

Ha! I got a pair of the 196 cd114s as well. Maybe Geo will accidentally slip the pro topsheet version into the Seattle box...
One can dream! The skis make the skier, right?

    Mika skis the 189.

The Bec was on the stock version, the pro version is slightly different construction-wise, though not hugely so.

Orange and red are both warm colors though... Like fire! If you get a yellow fart bag and blue boots you'll look like a torch flame.

I just received a DHL tracking number for the skis arriving in Colorado. Estimated delivery is this Friday (Nov 2nd).

Folks on my list should have received an e-mail from me (general update, plan for the skis which are shipping to UT, WY, MT as well as handling customs duties & shipping from my place).

E-mail me if you didn't receive that e-mail update: galibierdesign <<at >> outlook >>dot<< com

Just a reminder for everyone in the group buy to use Simen's offset numbers (measuring from the tail) to find the recommended mount point - ignore the silkscreened lines on the top sheet.
