East Coast Ullrfest 2018; Do it this year or you'll be older when you finally do

Go easy on me; DoWork is just too damn busy to work on this so I offered to stand in. The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting cooler. It's time to start planning for the biggest event of the East Coast fall social calendar.

Ullrfest 2018 is on for October 27 at Magic Mountain. If you've never been before, read some of the previous years' threads:

    2012: https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/...ight=Ullr-fest
    and
    https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/...ast+Coast+Ullr

    2013 - https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/...light=Ullrfest

    2014 - https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/...light=Ullrfest

    2016 - https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/...ight=Ullr-fest

    2017 - https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/...light=Ullrfest

If you're really bored and want to spend more time reading old TRs on Ullrfest, just search for it...

Here are a few guidelines to keep in mind (mostly DoWork's words):
As usual, pot luck dinner so BRING A DISH! Bonus Ullr points for local fresh goods or family recipes. Bacon-off to be staged over Sat evening/Sun morning as customary, so bring your best! The norm is to bring some food to share, beverage to share, some of nature's finest to share. There may or may not be a pig roast this year. It's a lot of work for the preparers and the cost is higher than you might think. A lot of people in the past have partaken and not contributed so the stoke gets low for those that eat the cost and we can't have that.

Tunes to be handled by the always groovy Get Amped. Ice Luge to be supplied by TBA. Obligatory TGR ski porn choices TBA. Spancerzzz for door raffle giveaway also TBA via stoke IV drip here in this thread. There will be overhead cover and electricity but we are moving back toward the original format of a more rustic experience. If you have some old sticks to sacrifice to Ullr, bring them. They will be consumed by fire and Ullr will be pleased.

Dogs are cool as long as they aren't assholes and are kid/dog/food behaved. Same goes for kids, but this is an adult party environment at night and you are responsible for the shit they may see or the fingers/eyes they may lose- same goes for you now that I think of it lol.

Camping is highly encouraged as is participation in the volunteer day if you can!

There will be NO SLEEPING IN THE LODGE. The fest will be on the flat spot up by the Black Chair rather than on the deck. Bathrooms in the lower level of the lodge will be available but don't fuck this up and think you can curl up in a corner. Again, we're moving back toward the more rustic original environment when Big Daddy hosted. Bring your best camping gear, plan to sleep in your ride, or make friends with somebody that lives walking distance from the lodge. You DO NOT WANT TO TRY TO DRIVE AFTER THIS EVENT.

The schwag is legendary and you gotta show up to win it. Everybody thinks I've won several Freeride Systems jackets at these shindigs; the reality is the only thing I've won is a pair of MiCol's work pants and a TGR t-shirt. Kokomas, Peruvian, and DoWork's lady have won the last 3 FRS jackets if my memory serves...

I know this will get fucked up but please read this: As we start to assemble the roll call, make sure you copy the latest post with names, numbers (TGR handle plus how many others with you), and what you're bringing.

So in closing- share your favorite past Ullrfest pics, your chosen pot luck dish, figure out a ride share- whatever keeps the stoke train rolling! Details will be announced here as they develop and we will see you all there!!

Been a long time, but what a good time.
Big daddy hospitality, tasty pig roasting, good people,

Now it’s big time at the maggot resort. Too cool.

Peruvian: coupla kegs of homebrew (I have a new jockey box so that janky POS won't be an issue this year), sleeve of cups, appetizer, combustibles.

If you intend to consume coffee, make sure you bring a mug (or something) to contain it whilst enjoying its restorative powers. I will not be bringing any disposal cups. I will have sugar, milk and BD's half-n-half.

Did I mention that the morning-after protein and caffeine breakfast and the fuzzy recollections of the night before may be the best part of this shindig?

Seriously, look at the old threads...you know you want to come. It's even betterer in person.

First volunteer day is this Saturday. I realize a lot of folks already have plans but if you can make it, plan to hang around afterward for one of the baddest bands around, Manchester's own Saints & Liars.

MNIAW, let me know if you need some help coordinating. Sounds like a main dish might become an issue....

I really wanted to make it to this thing this year. Alas, I have to work. If there is a group donation taking place to ensure the pig gets cooked, I'll happily pitch in anyways. Let me know where to send my donation.

Main dish(es) will work itself out...or not.

K, Can you research where we can procure some ice blocks (2) for the liquor luge? I've got enough scrap wood to make a coupla mounts for them.

Following up a work day with Saints & Liars is about the best day ever, MAN I LOVE S&L!

Super stoked for this year, I cannot wait and it’s going to be better than ever. Making a luge form here so we can freeze our own rather than buy one and truck it up.

Oh! And as for the work day before the party, we are going to be saving our raddest projects for Ullrfest, so come with your eyeballs duct taped in, lest they fall out when you see the badassery.

Also if we are lucky we might just be able to ride the Green chair up! Fingers crossed!

I’ll handle the luge and LED-lighted stand.

I’m a definite maybe. If I come, I’ll bring bacon, eggs, camp stove and, if there is desire, I’ll make a run to Other Half for some beer.

Awesome! I’m sure you can imagine my “struggles”.

Seriously, as long as the weather is decent, I’ll be up. I’ve grown tired of camping in cold, rainy weather.

This sounds like a blast. I'm going to look into my schedule to see if I can make it work.

If so, I will bring plenty of beer (requests from Portland, ME accepted) and some sort of tasty food.

Shit, looked into it already. Doesn't seem promising.

Well, if anyone is passing through Portland I would make a beer donation to the cause.

FWIW the Upper Pass Lodge aka the Up Her Ass Lodge is a 1 minute walk away and it never rains inside there. Nice bar too.
