Timing is everything. Mniaw will post his picture of it I'm sure, definitely a nice touch.
9 # of down.
Ok, Ullrfest or bust. Looks like I'll be there.
I was planning on bringing fresh striped bass but the tide doesn't really line up with my schedule on Friday AM, so no promises.
Anyone want me to pickup anything from 2 Roads? I have some errands to run in the neighborhood of the brewery on Friday afternoon and can swing by to pickup whatever.
If nothing else, I'll grab a bottle or two of Wray's for the iceblock. It should help separate the amateurs from the hardcore alcoholics.
OK, so slight change of plans. The weather appears to be going to shit so Geoff has graciously offered to let us set up on the deck. Electronics can be set up inside. Please don’t fuck this up by bringing beer inside. The Tavern will be open and we don’t want to screw this up. It’s going to be cold and wet outside but that’s where the party is. That down jacket may be in great demand. Bring all your GNAR tech gear; this is why we buy it. Some of the best Ullrfests of the past have been held in weather like this. No sleeping in the lodge!

So I’m a little ambivalent about this since we have had crashers from the BLT before and it’s not fair to BD, Bruce, et al. If we have tents and have to stay outside with our drinks, cocktails, beer, etc I’m not sure I see the benefit of setting up on the deck vs up near the black chair.
If anyone has additional pop up tents it sounds like we will need them this year.
It's great to have options, so let's make a game day decision on this. Very cool of Geoff to allow us to poach the porch.
Pros are, we can retreat into the lodge if it gets super nasty or to catch JBJ hitting another grand slam. Cons are, we get riff-raff drifting in... (which I'm not really all that concerned about). I love Magic and the vibe, so if some random goes home raving about the pig he/she ate here, that's great. I'd be happy knowing we helped contribute to enhancing the Magic experience. And I think we will have tons of food, so I'm not too worried and would rather see it enjoyed, than go to waste.
I have one pop up tent and figured it would be used for sheltering the pig box from rain.
Screw the net, Surf the backcountry!
X2 on what BD said (all of it!). pop up or other means of sshelter for pig box will be good insurance. I have used insulation panels on the pig box in the past but the results were not as savory as the results with a little additional cooking time....

You have no idea the kind of riff-raft that can be found in Londonderry on a cold and rainy night. I mean, for fuck’s sake, some might be friends of mine!
I’ve got a line on a spare 10x10’ tent as well so I’ll bring it along.
I'll be bringing my 10' x 10' popup as I expected to use it for sound gear protection. If I can set up the electronics inside and put the speakers outside, it can be allocated for other duties. The speakers themselves can be covered in lawn and leaf bags. I'll also have a collection of tarps that can provide some additional shelter / coverage.
If it's too loud, you're too old
As noted, I'll be bringing 2 10'X20' canopies. It's nice to be on the deck so we can attach them to the railing in case the wind comes up; sucks having ropes and stakes when mixed with the whiskey luge. I've been telling the local riff-raff I know that no dinero, no cerdo. Of greater concern is that a non-mag might win the jacket or other cool gear that MiCol donated so I'll be asking what e'erbody's TGR name is before giving out raffle tix. Significant others and friends of mags can get a ticket.
Oh! I nearly forgot- I am also bringing a huge bag of striper I caught off Montauk this summer. We can bread and fry to our hearts’ content!
