Light steady rain here on the east side at 5800' - about 1/2" overnight. Mt Rose reporting 5-7". Feels like this might be a sleeper day, and maybe wait and go up in the afternoon...

OFFICIAL TAHOE 18/19 STOKE, CONDITIONS, WEATHER THREAD

Just checked the gauge - 1 and 1/8ths of an inch (this is @ 2700 feet midway between 50 & 88). Still steady rain but we had some serious wind roll through the past hour. Little windados! Hopefully just a preview of what’s coming🤞

    SAC sez: don’t be dumb

    * Surface hoar was likely buried last night on many open wind protected slopes on N-NE aspects creating a problematic weak layer at the old/new snow interface. Surface hoar was reported prestorm on Stevens Peak (Carson Pass area), Jakes Peak (West Shore area), and on Tamarack Peak including in Hourglass Bowl (Mount Rose area).

    * No problematic weak layers have been observed deeper in the snowpack below the old/new snow interface

Major freaking out over Sunday by everyone, it seems.
Should be a quiet few days, until next weekend.
Have a guest. Skied KW yesterday, met her off the Bus.
Planning to ski Rose today, drop 'em off at HV tomorrow, to take SkiBus home.
    But guess what!
Sunday buses got cancelled 'cos of whiney milquetoast clients *concerns*
Got to hustle to find her ride home now.

*Kids these days, they have no clue how easy they have it. Back in my day we used to push the Ski Bus through the snow drifts over Carson Pass... with our bare hands! *

80 just went into chain control, pretty low too, down to Drum. And the road cam’s finally showing snow on the road over the pass.

Yeah but those zones run about 8-9k (on the assumption it's no longer wind protected above 9k) with the snow level about 1,000 feet below.
I would think with the amount of snow we're supposed to get most will flush naturally or have an 8' bridge on top.

    fingers crossed.

What wimps. If the bus gets stuck a couple of martyrs should be enough to keep everyone else alive until the spring melt. Just be armed and not eaten. (Greetings from Donner Lake.)

Wintry mix at the base of Alpine, but it’s getting colder / dryer with each lap. Untracked mashed potatoes aren’t bad but once it’s chopped hang on to your ACL’s. Kicked off a mini wet slide on a roller and I think patrol is closing the Wolverine side now.

Should get better as the day goes on.

Currently sunny and somewhat warm at roughly 6500 in T/D in Truckee.
All of the snow that has accumulated since approximately 5am this morning is currently dropping/melting at a heavy rate and in large clumps from the trees and roofs.

Quite the drastic flip from the rain, snain, slush, and snow we had between 7:15am and Noon...

Can't help you with your gambling addiction, however...

Both Revision Brewing (Sparks) and 10Torr (Reno) make and serve tasty craft beers. So, too, does Brasserie St. James in MidTown...

And there's an interesting show at The Holland Project on Tuesday night:
