Does anyone know if Rose is gonna spin wizard/galena into the evening? Planning to go up again after work but my beginner wife wants to join....
Is Rose running lifts past 4pm this spring? That would be kind of cool.

Hoping these next storms stay north. Or hit us direct. Rather sunshine than 2" of wet snow. Looks like we will get a few runs in Sunday afternoon through Thursday morning.

The big Winter Wondergrass festival is in town/the lot at Squaw, so definitely big crowds there this weekend. Also a Boarding for Breast Cancer/Sports basement Demo Days event at Alpine on Saturday. Plan accordingly...

KW was lovely this morning. Pretty soft, and mellow for the most part.
Our 1st time hitting 10 this season (no viz on other times).
1st time getting off lift on left to drop in.
    Waterfall is a joke...but a good one!
    >>
    Off to Mt.Rose now.
They are running NW6 until 6:30.
    Cheap booze, on snow bar.
Buddy tix for $49 until end of season (4/28)

Thanks for the beta. While the music fest will wreck parking, it shouldn't affect the lifts too much, right? The demo day, however...

I'm headed up with my boys in the morning. Our typical method is AM on Saturday, SV on Sunday. This seems to help with the crowds. Not sure what the plan is now.

Alpine lot was pretty damn full today too so anybody not working at squaw seems to have been not working at alpine. Including me. Surprisingly good pow turns today. Lighter than yesterday and pretty filled in. Bonus

We got to Alpine around noon and were surprised to see that many cars. But then there was no one on the mountain, and the lodge / bar / decks weren’t very crowded either. Did the Squaw lot fill up with the festival so people parked at Alpine and took the shuttle over?

Found some nice left overs in the trees and stuff like High Yellow that didn’t get the sun on it until later.
I ski 135 degree chutes switch to the road.

skied a lap on the south face of jakes before lunch. We skied the last ~30 minutes or so of decent snow at 10am, anything later would be a big risk for loose wet slides. Super fun

Cool Vid Powdork. Got me stoked for going out tomorrow!

Gimpy, buddy, you're crushing it this year. So many great routes and i'm really diggin' the "Gimpy 2.0, now with pictures". Some of those pics you posted above and this year are perfect. Man I've always thought about scratchin' that itch as well. Other than Mike (ala theBackcountry forum), i haven't seen anyone go out there much. definitely will have to check that out if one of these days.

Was a mile South from Squaw turnoff on 89 around 10:00pm...and I just missed two head on collisions. I told my son not to look and we just crawled by the scene before a ton of police and ambulances rushed to the scene. Reading comments on Waze, it looks they closed 89 and landed a helicopter for rescue. Ugh. That stretch of road is no bueno.

That pic is sick gimpy. Often I don’t get FOMO from other people’s pics. I think you’ve posted enough that I now have KOMO (knowledge of missing out). Great work.

Looks like I’ll be slaying the slush next week. Putting the spring wax on today while the rest of y’all harvest more pow and corn.

Surf is still pumping down her tho, so life is good. Best March for solid surf in many years. These storms are keeping that NW devil wind from developing.

Free demos at Alpine this morning, although both lots are already full due to wondergrass.

They aren’t free demos. Main lots have been full since 9:05.

The demos weren't free? WTF?!?! I walked through but since they didn't have any black crows I didn't bother to stay

Snow was pretty nice today. The lines pretty non existent too for what a shit show the parking situation was and how many ants were on the hill.

J, sorry we didn't connect. I had teenage drama to mitigate

Isnt that basically the Alpine turn-off OR just past River Ranch? Or do you mean a mile north from Squaw turnoff?

Snow still good out there. Super fun for skiing, also fun for face-planting the skin track!
