Skied another random Nevada spot yesterday -Dogskin Mountain by Pyramid Lake. Really surprisingly good, with fantastic Mahogany Forest lines! The snowpack above 5,000 feet in NV is nuts right now.
Check out the pics and TR if so inclined, and hope everyone has been having fun this weekend!

Went up to Castle Peak today. Got dropped off at the rest area. Caltrans guy was there blaring his horn at another group warning them that they would be towed. Skin track was blocked off with caution do not enter tape, but we found a way around. Didn't see another group out there.
Wind was howling. Mixed bag of conditions.

Time to kick the feet up and wait for more.

Cold Snow in Tahoe gives me life
More weather than expected at Squaw today so it was KT22 and Red Dog were where the action was. Snow was better than it had any right to be, bless actual winter temps, cloud cover, and blustery winds refreshing my runs. Red Dog glades were super fun. I think this is the most enthusiasm I have ever had for the lower bit of Squaw, happy ski times.

High mostly north facing lakeview trees still held good powder. The transitional stuff was good if you hit it in the transition's sweet spot. And there is no Saxon Creek Peak

I picked up one years ago... then another... and another... No regrets. Get yourself into an Avvy 1 course this season especially with this deep snowpack you'll get some great insight. Cheers!

Rossingol Sushi split. I think it's something like 28cm in the waist and 40+ in the nose. Probably one of the widest splits on the market. You can see in the first clip around 11 seconds I almost get bucked because it's my first time on it this season and I wasn't prepared for the amount of energy it takes to get the thing on edge. Absolutely incredible to ride in fresh, the deeper the better. Skinning with it is tricky... on those blown out ice/off camber skin tracks it's a struggle, especially since my skins don't reach the full width of the bases.
It's definitley not a good split to have as your only split but super fun to switch it up. Purchased for a trip to Japan where it was developed by Xavi.
My other boards are more all-mountain directional twins, Prior BC and Burton Flight attendant. Both highly recommended. Prob more info than you wanted but I'm all amped up looking at storm totals for this week!

I think any photos that come straight off a phone will do that. I know I always have to "rerotate" and resave them on my computer to get them to correctly orient.
TLDR; Ski faster. Quit breathing. Don't crash.

A few more for bitch tax.
Snow in the Santa Lucia Range. I can still see it there today and this shot is from weeks ago.
Got my godson on skis when he was 2. 11 years later, he is starting to rip. And he has hiker lungs. Or kid lungs. Don't matter.
My kid drinking some hot cider and eating lunch while we rest the legs and wait for fresh terrain.

Here's what was going on at Northstar the other day: https://www.sierrasun.com/news/local...ift-for-hours/
I'd be pretty pissed to get stuck up there for 3 hours! Seems like a major problem for a lift that's only a few years old.
