Couldn't help myself need more...
Ski Boss was out again as well, working double corks on a sick step up. Fired up.
Had to go back for thirds. Run 2 was good, nice steep edgeable windboard to some exposed windbuff on the classic north facing shoulder semi-chute-more-of-a-face down to the tunnel, but it was just too tempting to keep working left in the Heart. This shot is shortly after 420pm
Great work everyone; nice job Huck on the eastshore, Gimpy somewhere sweet, and absolutely killer day on Tallac by Mr. Hankey. Ambien seems to be performance enhancing for sure

Damn great stuff going off right now from everyone, 213, gimp, hankey and everyone else!
Bwahahaha
T, that brings back great memories with your boy Brennan, when we were in Svalbard 6 years ago we blasted that song (the live version from Stop Making Sense of course) while crushing beers on the top deck of the boat, while doing our job of being “on watch” making sure polar bears didn’t try to climb into the boat or that icebergs and moving sea ice didn’t take down the boat while it was anchored. Repeated this routine every day after we were done skiing and eating (we skied at “night”)._______________________________________________

Nice out there, sweet shots above!
Found some decent snow in the North trees on Tallac yesterday and some great snow above Azure lake out of bay view. Gracie Law above Azure lake. \/ We were seeking the remaining pow and did not come across much corn, but with these temps i amy be close?
And a little reconLike I told my last wife, I never drive faster than I can see, besides it's all in the reflexes.

It’s been nice to see the detailed beta the last few days, thanks y’all.
Mr Hankey, please keep up with the high-gravity beers if it means rad posts like that!
I had similar experiences as tahoebc yesterday. Lots of transitional snow on south aspects, much of it fun, nothing really bad, but not exactly corn.
I’d never done pyramid before, probably because all the beta suggests it’s not great and the first part sucks.
Right now the approach is really simple. Tons of snow to the road, no bushwhacking. As long as the rains don’t melt it out before the next corn cycle there’s the potential for lots of good skiing in that zone this spring without much access trouble. The parking situation is not great, so I’d probably avoid on weekends.

Saturday was good fun but only had a few laps to myslelf between trying to watch my kids race for the Mighty Mites World Cup. Races were delayed as usual and crushed my ski day plans as I hovered around the Nastar course for most of the day...oh well. North facing was skiing well...chalk and a few firm spots here and there. Took a lap under the lift line of Silvy around 2pm and it was total Springtime snowpack on skier's left.

On Sunday I decided to get all historical and shit.
I travelled out to "The Lost Sierra" town of Johnsville and participated in the last Longboard Race of the season.
I registered for the race, handed over $60 ($20 Plumas Ski Club membership fee, $20 race entry fee, $20 rental fee) and plucked my heat number out of a hat.

I see a lot of peeps on IG have been shredding crust on the eastside this week, but I'd have to say conditions have been 5x's better up north. Tahoe has been holding up amazingly! The last couple days things have deteriorated exponentially, but just in time for a refresh hopefully.
A buddy and I decided to explore some lesser skied areas in the backyard. Lots of pow still to be had, but in very strategic aspects. The slope this pic was taken on was perfect corn the entire way up. Unfortunately, we didn't have the time or legs to ski it. Started up Relay peak, worked our way over and rode the left to right angling shot in upper left corner then skinned up the back side of this face. We then finished down Larry's all the way to Floriston!

That's really impressive Dookey! Me knees got scared just looking at those behemoths
Well done Brooks! But how the hell did you get back from Floriston. That sounds like a hellish shuttle. No POV vid?

is that the size of skis snowshoe thompson would have been on?

Not sure about the size, but definitely the style.
Since I was a first-timer everybody suggested I go with the small skis. They had some 16-footers, some 20-footers and maybe even longer for "rent", and I'm pretty sure some of the more experienced longboarders who were skiing their own homemade boards were on skis in the 25-to-30-foot-and-perhaps-longer range (there were some l-o-n-g skis out there yesterday!).
FWIW, one of the oldest documented speed skiing records was logged in La Porte, CA, just over the hill from Johnsville in the late 1800s...not sure how long that dude's skis were, but he was hauling ass!

Those boards are crazy! How much do you think they weighed if you had to guess? My quads hurt just looking at them.

Hmmm.
Definitely heavier than my circa 1980s 225cm K2 downhill skis ...
Honestly, the small ones I used weren't that heavy, felt about as heavy as my slalom skis or frontside carvers (Blizzard SLC in a 165cm or Blizzard Quattro in a 175cm) with system bindings. I had to carry them up the hill for the race, probably a 1/4 mile and I didn't shift them from shoulder to shoulder, so, again, they didn't feel that heavy..
The funkiest thing about them is the length, which makes their swing weight really off...that and you're really worried about taking off multiple heads of all the spectators who were milling about every time you moved!
And they don't have breaks, so it's like carrying a really over-sized pair of tele skis (they kept slipping apart...the "pros" had ski straps and one guy had drilled holes in his tips, run cord through the holes, and then drug them up the hill like an oxen dragging a plow...).
I wish I'd taken some pictures of everybody lugging them up the hill.

Dooks looks like those would be good for Glacier travel, just span the crevasses
Wish someone could have pulled a camera out in time when the Bald Eagle came swooping down this Chute today!
Man I wish it stay sunny for a few more days, on the verge of hero corn.
Nice Toby, next corn cycle I want to hit that line

You guys are finding better snow than i did today.
Skied done of the emerald chutes, going down towards the 90 ft wall.
Waterfall is snow free, but easy skiing on left.
Wet snow slides on the very top, where it's pretty steep, around 12:30, but no big deal, yet.
Mank all the way down, still fun though.
