This is good news that they’ve changed their approach on skinning post season because I’ve asked them before and was told no. Yay!

They told me today that they still don't officially allow inbounds skinning, or skiing of any kind, due to cat operations etc. The word was to skirt the resort and stay outside the boundary.

Skied an E aspect today out by Carson Pass. Dropped at 9 and corn was great. Wouldn't have wanted to be a whole lot later. The refreeze wouldn't have been supportable for a whole lot longer.

And yet they seemingly promote off season use via their insta.

OFFICIAL TAHOE 18/19 STOKE, CONDITIONS, WEATHER THREAD

I skinned up Homewood around 1pm today, didn’t see anyone. Went the Ore Cart route to stay out of the way, but don’t think that was necessary. Miner’s Delight was nice, although it’s starting to get some small suncups.

Beautiful afternoon, but a bit hot, so I just did one quick lap. Nice way to test out new touring gear.

Speaking of, I went to Assssss$$$$sssspen this winter for a friend's wedding, and couldn't help but notice how much uphill resort skiing ("ski-mo" without the mountaineering I guess) is promoted by and encouraged by the local tourism associations and Aspen Ski Co. Like, Aspen is trying to become the US's center of "uphill winter sports" - I shit thee not. https://www.aspenchamber.org/blog/uphilling-aspen

They even have special events, like skinning up for dinner or pancake breakfasts. I mean, look at all this crap: https://www.aspensnowmass.com/while-...philling-guide Spandex heaven. Pretty cool. Who doesn't love spandex!

Wow! $920 for a private uphill lesson (or $820 for advance reservation)! I'll give anyone an "uphill lesson" at Diamond Peak for, let's say half that?

Better stay away, there's no ski patrol and they took the pads off the towers.

Blast at Squaw today. Bunch of terrain I e never been in before. Sunbowl was primo corn, if it is a bit short. Put in 10 laps off KT to finish the day. My ass is kicked. So many great bump skiers at that place.

I was told that squaw had 7,400 skiers yesterday. Wasn’t around so can’t confirm but that’s pretty impressive for a weekend at the end of April.
