Rose closing day was sweet, not in the least because I scored a free ticket in the parking lot, but moreso because the snow was pretty damn bueno.
Lapped some semi-OB stuff until roughly noon and then hit up The Chutes until I got tuckered out around 3:15.
Folks who went the distance (til 4) said the snow started to set-up and got really good around 3:30.
Not that it was anything resembling crap prior to that: it was sweet cream (not quite corn, but damn close).
The Chutes will be good for a few weeks yet, too, as they all go top-to-bottom and coverage is fairly deep.
A mini rogue's gallery of long-time Maggots were on-hand, too: Turx, Cinders, Corky, and Thudder, to name but a few.
Apres parking lot shenanigans (at least on The Slide Side) were pretty mellow, which was a refreshing change of pace.
    Solid day all around.

Compared to KW there was a shit ton of people. Even had to switch game plans as lines formed. I was not interested in waiting in line, but was easy enough to avoid once back out on Shirley. KT was skintight on all afternoon.

Speaking of hardly, there were hardly 30 cars in all the Alpine lots at 3:20 today. That place must have been a ghost town.

It was pretty dead but the fact that only Summit is spinning made it seem more crowded on the hill than it really was. Great day over here nonetheless.

I’ve also been noticing a resurgence in Alpine Meadows logo gear. Estelle sports in the lodge is selling all kinds of swag with the AM logo and I’m a big fan.

Northeast aspects of Incline skied excellent around 10-11am sat/sun. Surprisingly good stuff.

    Not Tahoe, but...
I think there were more skiers on the Bloody this weekend than at Squaw. Was pretty stoked when we caught up to another party and realized they were 5 of our friends from Reno though! And so good times ensued.

Approaches are starting to get melted out down there, with a decent snow line around 8,000 ft. or so. Get it while you still can!

Shelf life of staying on all snow from the end of spring creek will be quickly coming to and end soon, so get it in the next couple days or your gonna start to have to dry tool. Think we dropped the cross at about 9:30 today

And today we skied the mini Hall and the skiers right Hall. Around 1.

Snow was crunchy in the couloir, but totally edgeable.

^thus far the prelims to the mega-storm have yielded roughly 15-minutes of hail in my backyard and sunny skies in the front.
Currently sunny in both back and front yards, but dark grey clouds have been lingering to the NW and NE all morning...and it's been windy too (I scrapped my patch-skiing plans for the day based on the clouds and winds at 7am, fwiw).

Forecast I'm looking at says wet today/tonight with a low of 20, so tomorrow AM should be slick and Tahoe Boilerplate action, but it's prophesized to reach 50 and be sunny, so it should soften up mid-day, methinks...depending on how much it rains today/tonight, we could be in for a decent corn cycle again by Friday (temps supposed to freeze at night and reach into the mid-to-high 50s during the days).

    UPDATE:
ball-bearing sized hail dropping like crazy right now at 6300 in T/D (12:39 PM)...and now it's sunny again (1:01 PM)...

The winds this morning were enough to discourage me from skiing today, so I figured I’d go look for my GoPro I lost this winter and holy shit I found it and it’s working perfectly. Even hiked that ski down and turned it into lost and found

Compared to mid season, when I long for days when the crowds start to drop off.

Here is a little flashback to Feb 10th, all roads in and out of Tahoe were shutdown, Heavenly was one of the few resorts that spun anything. Was still waiting approval for Knee surgery so I wrapped up my knee with 2 braces and said fuck it I'm skiing. 3rd run I hit 3 rocks under the surface, fucked my knee more and lost my GoPro.

Here is some of the footage from that day.

1cm new at Squaw. It’s pretty bullet and praying it gets warm enough to soften.

Did you go towards the 90 ft wall parking?

Looked like the waterfall was burned out on Monday

Parked at the gate closure turnaround, looked like someone did the eagle falls chute yesterday or the day before tracks in all the lower segments with some probably spicy down climbs. One way to do that one this time of year is to drop it from the top, go down as far as you like then boot back up and then drop the one we did today.
