Found Countor GPS at the bottom of Chute 75

    Long-time lurker...

I found a Contour GPS at the bottom of Chute 75 over 4th of July a couple of years ago. I finally got around to plugging it in - it still works. Looks like it was lost in 2012. I know it's old at this point but maybe it'll make the owners day to have it returned.

Since my account is new I can't post links/video right away so hopefully I can get those added in the next few posts.

Squaw was pretty good (for June) this past weekend even though the freezing temps didn't really happen. The entire mountain was pretty much available if you wanted to do some hiking. Granite not quite to the liftline after hiking Emigrant. KT available from Reverse Traverse/CII. KT is dirty/a little sun-cupped but all it needs is a little more traffic to scrape away the top layer. This is the last weekend for Sibo so KT will take some more effort after that.

OFFICIAL TAHOE 18/19 STOKE, CONDITIONS, WEATHER THREAD

Really had no intention of skiing today after working the legs pretty good at Mammoth for two days. Besides looked like the low was gonna be around 50 degrees up on the hill overnight. Gimpy was counting on summer time consolidation to be in place, and had a mission in mind, he bailed to work that must be a first! Went anyway and east facing skied great at 9:00 am.

not that it matters any more since we're in for a good freeze but were you finding that at all elevations (ie, was the consolidation going on up high too?)
Down under like 9,2k i've been finding good conditions on warm days in the early afternoon. either way sat/sun look to be money.

Squaw was pretty good fun today.
Hella crowded, with the new $5 Fridays crowd. Then wind shutdowns meant only Big Blue & Shirley for a bit, so seemed jammed.
RevTrev, from Siby, is still a go, but bare rock to hike across now on top, enroute to Hogsback or N.Bowl.
Snow quality in general was way better than last Sat. Helped by cool temps well into the afternoon and having so many peeps there today - skier traffic wise.
    Suncups on unskied were b,b,b,bouncy...!
Even MtnRun skied good at end of day...except for the mud section near the end...yes we ski'd it!
Not a good idea when you hafta shoulder your muddy skis back to the car tho...

^^^Do they lack snow for Sibo? Or just don't want to spend the money. Seems if the crowds are coming out, it makes sense to keep it spinning and keep folks wanting to ski. Mammy spun 5 today and Friday starting late morning.

If anyone notices Woods Lake Rd/parking lot off 88 open...please post on here. The alpine county site doesn't update that often.

I'm headed to Telluride on and off for the month of July, so not too worried about getting a ton of snow time in before then (record year there as well)...but I do have a TON of kid baseball management this month.

But where? Only gate i'm aware of is just past the trailhead. So maybe just the campground is closed til July? Unless there is a gate just past where the dirt road heads off to the left because otherwise you could use that road to bypass any gate (the 4x road parallels the main road and has access points at the top and in the passing lane).

They only gate the campgrounds, probably drive over this afternoon to pick a a season parking pass, if I do I'll check out the woods lake access to see if it's snow free.

There has got to be some hungry fish in Crater Lake with it melting so late. Kirkwood looks so fat still, but I will focus on the hungry fish...

FWIW, road to Woods Lake was covered in snow July 4th weekend of ‘17. Further in than .1mile, but I don’t think I was able to get 1/2 mile in that year.

Thinks are stacked. I won’t be around, but wonder if KW will allow skis to board the sightseeing lift on July 4 weekend this year. Just a few weeks to go and it looks better than it did in ‘05.
