FATMAP shows gradients for terrain and has a lot of trails listed by max steepness. Kinda frustrating interface but very cool data.

Got out for my first KT laps of the year, damn that was fun. Took a couple runs to remember how to ski! IMO West Face and 75 are skiing well, smooth through most of the run then some bumps for good measure. Back to work with a far better temperment

Maybe its the #MeToo movement or maybe I'm just getting more mature, but I'm not getting the same enjoyment from my GNAR poster I have in years past. So it's time to find it a new home. I will trade this poster to any interested party for a 6-pack or comparable volume of eggnog, I am getting older. Located in Truckee. PM me if you are interested. Click image for larger version.

I must have missed the sexual assault scene in GNAR?

4" overnight at Squaw - came in a little better than expected. Has anyone else noticed that Weather.com has been more accurate than Open Snow lately?

Several inches of heavy wet snow up top at Squaw. Not too sticky to have fun and perfect for rebuilding the base.

It’s much better up top. I didn’t even ride KT once today. Should be chalky tomorrow I hope. We’ll have a crew at Alpine most likely which will be more consistent top to bottom.

Edit: but I’ll catch you mid day (well, maybe not catch you, but I’ll try).

Hey guys, heres another blog post up about the Snake Range (not that anyone really gives a shit since this isn't Tahoe).

Cheers and happy holidays! Sad to be taking the last two weeks of the year off -but hopefully I'll return to better snow.

A personal account from John Morrison, the skier injured on Tallac. Seems like an ambitious goal on his recovery. I love it.

Oh man, John Morrison. He's one of those complete badasses that not a lot of people have heard of outside of the area.

"Though badly broken up, I am healing and look forward to skiing again later this winter. "

It would be pretty incredible if he's back on skis next winter much less this one after a fall like that.

Looks like Mt.Rose got no precip today?
    Boo!

We actually ended up at NoStars (again), where it was basically lightly snowing all day.
    Yup.
Kinda gritty, wet snow, and poor viz, but we had a pretty good time.

It was crazy crowded, but no-one wanted to ride Promised Land lift, so score!
    Some ok terrain under there.

Texts from KW had parking lots there reaching capacity around 9:30 this am.
I assume they got precip too?

In 1999 he was shot by an I-80 sniper right in the chest so close to his heart they left the bullet in. He was hitting up rowdy Chimney lines a month later.
