They've been promoting it on social media, so I don't think it would go over too well if they closed Silverado on the weekend! I'm more looking forward to skiing it during the next storm wave starting around Super Bowl weekend (fingers crossed).

Yes it ran yesterday, so random. No Broken Arrow today with Silvy running. Would be nice to have for dropping in the Far Side gate. Solitude shut down as well. Guess only so many lift ops. Fun riding BA last weekend at least. Have to wait until next weekend for Silverado.

Counter argument: those who are in over their heads are no longer side slipping / scraping nice lines to get down. Also, more lift traffic down there keeps it running longer / more frequently (in theory).
I ski 135 degree chutes switch to the road.

OT runs from the bottom of Solitude to the bottom of Silvy, no? Does that keep people off Silverado who would otherwise try it and be over their heads? Besides, landbridge should satisfy those folks. All it seems to do IMO is increase the crowds at the bottom of Silvy. My guess is that after one run down OT on a powder day people won't make the same mistake twice after waiting in the Silvy lift line. It's a pretty lame run IMO. Anyway, it's a done deal, so my opinion is just another scream snatched away by the wind.
Today 3 different people came down the icy cat track from Silvy/OT and crashed into the lift line--2 hit people, 1 hit a slow sign, no one injured or even knocked over. Standing in the singles line I felt better once there were a couple people lined up behind me.

A few fun laps on Silvy made all the suffering worthwhile.

^^ My bad, I'm not good at keeping track of the named groomer runs so I was confusing them. It's been a while since I've had a chance to ride Silverado as well so that doesn't help.

Let's work on that. Tomlinson's, Hill's, Atkinson's, Standteiner's, and Marillac's. (1-5 Tree Runs off Shirley). Memorize those tonight and we'll work on some more tomorrow.

Silvy was very good! Nice sugary powder on most aspects, some scratchy areas a little crust on some west facing zones. Great runs on bungee bowl to Katmandu areas. Later in the day bailey's cirque to medusa chute and main bowl all skiing great. Started to get some good wind effect on the upper bowls later in the day. The snow help up great, should be good tomorrow. Saw some great lines go down on china wall, a couple of crashes coming out of there too. Many lost IKON pass people getting cliffed out and trying to hike out, etc.

Fun in the sun at Kirkwood today, snow softened up nicely as it warmed. Not that it was very icy to begin with, still pretty wintry out there.
It's my first season at the wood, I looked at some older maps earlier...wtf happened to chair 15?

    Beware the shining!
Other then exposed ridges holding glazed ice guarding entrances to steep lines, it’s crazy good out there right now

Vail took it out. It was a poma two. Before that rope went in, few people ever hiked over to Fawn. It was nice to use the tows for West Shore laps. Now they are gone and everyone traverses the fuck out of the wave. OTOH, they did not get enough snow to run during the drought and the. Got buried two years ago and the heavy wet snow we got damaged part of it. So Vail removes it.

I think “holy grail” should be put back into lexicon. I learned it from Ian, but I bet it pre-dates his arrival.
