    Jackson Hole Bike Park

If I was planning on spending a couple hours on the easier DH trails, would a xc bike (~120 mm travel) be decent? Would I need my full face helmet and pads? (will be on a ~three week car camping trip, space will be at a premium)

No problem on an XC bike, everything is super groomed, shall we say.
Good for a few hours. It is a small bike park.

So, same question for Targhee - will I survive on a xc? Does the easier stuff need full body armor?

    3pete the go to targhee.
lots of good riding around Jackso/ Teton pass but the JH bike park is smaller and is fun but is not the best riding we offer
Targhee is more lift serviced xc/dh- loong runs

as far as the padding- maybe knee/ elbows if you are into padding, but not totally necessary

Great lift-served there, but my favorite and one of my all-times is Mill Creek, from the resort down to Teton Canyon...

They used to run an enduro race down Mill Crk during the wydaho rendezvous, which is this upcoming w/e. so maybe just a heads up to chk that for your planning
altho scanning the wydaho site now and I dont see any races listed so maybe they are just doing clinics, group rides etc, which might be fun for you to meet/ ride with peeps if you are traveling solo

Just remember that many people still like to climb up, so keep it in check when sightlines are limited.

A late thank you for those who pushed me towards Targhee. That place is nuts. Didn't make it off the blue runs but damn, those are some long tough rocky long trails. My (2014) xc mtb needed some serious attention after that day. Awesome place you guys have there.
