    Copper

Current market value of various scrap copper is a damn good value for the medal. I just recovered a few hundred dollars myself. Be mindful of what you think might be trash, it's most likely cash that you didn't know you had lying around.

Pre 1982 penny is worth 1.7 cents at today’s prices.

I know a guy who made a penny sorter and runs it 24/7. All the banks know him as the penny guy. Technically its illegal so he plays it off like he is a collector.

Had all my sprinklers stolen off my handlines by people trying to make money on metals. Forkers.

    Then there's this:

Walla Walla man sentenced in copper theft case
    Aug 15, 2018

A Walla Walla man was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to reduced charges in a case involving stealing and then selling copper wire.

Alex F. Avalos, 31, was sentenced to 364 days in the County Jail. However Walla Walla County Superior Court Judge Pro Tem Michael Mitchell gave Avalos credit for four days already served and suspended the balance of the sentence.

Avalos had been charged with one count of first-degree trafficking in stolen property, but agreed to plead guilty to one count of second-degree attempted theft and one count criminal trespass, both gross misdemeanors.

He was also ordered to serve 12 months of supervised probation and pay $450 in court costs.

Avalos and another man, Ernesto Moreno, were arrested by Walla Walla Police on April 15 after officers were called to the Stubblefield Company, 116 N. 11th Ave., for an attempted theft.

The two men had been detained by the property owner, Debbie Stubblefield, and her boyfriend, Jacque Paffile, who were aware copper was being stolen from their business and were on watch.

A police investigation determined that Avalos was stealing the copper and selling it to Stubblefield Company and Walla Walla Recycling by enlisting the help of at least 10 other people, according to the probable cause statement.

In December, Moreno pleaded guilty to third-degree theft and criminal trespass in Walla Walla District Court.

There was another episode similar to this just recently where a bunch of commemorative plaques to veterans were stolen sometime in the last week. I think I saw it in USA Today a few days ago. Probably just a matter of time now before statues start getting stolen and melted down...

A peer found out one of his employees was scrapping new wire over the course of 3 years. By his math it was over $310,000. The guy got about 15% of that.

    His felony case is pending.

Scrap copper should be taxed heavily to internalize the costs of the damage it does to society.

Along the lines of the above, a city near me just fired 7 public works staff for copper theft spanning the past decade.

Even worse, the same city recently fired a long term 25+ year employee for using the business credit card to buy himself 175k worth of stuff to resell. This is a guy who makes 90k/yr near retirement with a nice pension. Now he's fucked for the rest of his life. I don't get what motivates some people to do stupid shit.

Not a bad appreciation. Bright copper scrap is even better I believe.

Smart guy and fuck the red tape.

I unlike you do not measure myself based on medals and such. However I would take one and recycle it because AGAIN prices are great.

That is a bummer about your sprinklers. I'm guessing Aluminum was what they wanted from yours.

That and old extension cords and electrical wire from demolitions. Speaking of demolition, depending on your local and state laws anything in the trash/dumpster is fair game. I have cruised by many of a job site and noticed wire for days. The last time I recovered 30lbs of bright copper. What a waste and it has no place being in and taking up space in landfills.

Good lord Hector you must be as slow upstairs as you are on your skis. This has been taken care of. See my thread and lovely photo in it for future reference. Now get back to fapping it.

That's a solid fund. Depending on your rate of consumption that should last you awhile. Cheers to more beer money!

    These are truly worthless meat-suits.
