Also, any of you been on the EXPs? I'm 6'2" 225 and I cant seem to find a mid 80s touring ski that is above 180 cm except EXPs. How did everyone find the flex? I would assume a 3 would be perfect for those skis.
Line art is great on veneer - Ibex, Tsunami, etc.

Solid colors end up being a bit muted, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. For example, I much preferred the Max theme on my Qs (over photos of it on nylon), and the OG GPO graphic is great.

I usually tour in the 180 range, and love my 173 EXPs that I got from @grinch.

One common complaint with light, mid-80s skis is that they don't do Spring glop well. The EXPs exceeded my expectations - just drive the tip and they bust through.

The EXPs can bend a tight arc and hold an edge on harder snow. I know some folks prefer long radius skis for jump turns in couloirs. I can't comment about this or compare the two design approaches

I don't have a remote temptation to seek out a Zero G 85. I can't imagine a better ski than the EXP - different maybe, but not better, and I'm OK with the weight. If I were to do anything, I'd shave 150g by going from Plum Guides to some light ATKs.

    My 173 EXPs (veneer, flex #3) come in at 1425g. I'm 5'9, 165#

I usually ski a flex 4 in Praxis.

Here is a good example of how things will "wash out". When we did this design the wash out was expected and planned for as we picked colors that would show the grain nicely while popping off the ski.

I'm partial to having just the text from the "Redwood Surf" graphic printed on my veneer. I actually have that same graphic on both of my veneer topsheet Praxis'.

I did that on my big red Protests and I'd do it again.

Woah, what's going on with those? Did you have the printed woodgrain from the graphic printed on top of the veneer? Or if not, how did the text end up lighter? That's a very cool effect.

I discussed with Keith. No woodgrain, just transparent red on olive ash veneer and the logos.
Basically anything white in a graphic shows as transparent when he stains the veneer. So I told him I wanted the red to be transparent, and the logo to be clear so the wood grain showed through. Logo on one ski tip, another facing the other way on the other ski tail.
He nailed what I was picturing in my mind.

Ah, cool, so a transparent red die on the veneer with clear for the logos. Very unique looking. I really like it.

I dug up a photo of my departed Qs with veneer/Max. Seems as if I always end up selling my prettiest skis. Maybe there's a lesson here?

I have been a slacker regarding touring this year, outside of nordic, but I am enjoying my switch from tele to A/T lately for spring corn tours. I still prefer tele for rolling terrain on the way in/out. The edges on my BCs were sharp enough to shave with I think, detuning continues. Flex 3, Enduro+C, maple veneer.

Whoops, should have noted that. 180cm Weight includes leashes for what it's worth.

So the BCs come in at about 1800?

I guess my hopes of an 1800g, #3, UL/Veneer (maybe carbon), 182 GPO are unrealistic, then.

That makes sense though, as my 182, MAP/Carbon #4 pair comes in at 2020.

It's probably for the best, with this Spring's cash flow ;-)

They have been great so far in shallow dense powder and corn, pockets of powder here and there. And a total joy for climbing.

I got spoiled with the BCs being exactly the same weight. The MVP pair differed by a whopping 2 grams from each other, haha.

I asked Keith as I was considering the same ski (UL GPO). He said that his records of previous builds showed some 182 UL/veneer GPOs at 8lbs 1 oz.
Common sense. So rare today in America it's almost like having a superpower.

I meant to say enduro core earlier (maple, ash, aspen) not MAP.
