    Dear OP,

    1. Travel trailers die fast on gravel roads. So do 5th wheels. Whatever you do on a haul road, bring a couple mounted spares. Trailer tires are usually weak sauce. Get a big mud flap regardless.

    2. Fairbanks and Anchorage have ZERO sales tax. They have the cheapest fuel and groceries. Gear out the ass. Cell coverage. Charter flights to anywhere whenever you want within a couple phone calls. Packraft rentals. Killer bike shops. AMH. Eagle outdoors. Wiggys. REI. Wild West Guns...

    3. Give up the idea of off-roading, unless you rent (or bring) some wheelers. Same goes for sticking your canoe in mellow-looking unknown creeks in the Kenai Mountains....Preplan and avoid unplanned first descents...
    Do bring bikes

    4. Best way to see wildlife is to climb up high and glass. Best way to experience wildlife is to float a river and camp.
The Kenai doesn't count. Do preplan.

    5. If you want to get involved in a sufferfest beyond the bounds of normal human endurance then have to turn back and downclimb 300' from the summit due to frostbite and exposure, BFD is your man. Don't listen to his wisdom about road trippin' the Great Land tho, he's probably seasick.
And Alaska State Parks and USNF Campgrounds in Alaska are always a good bet. There's usually room too. Some, like Byrd Creek during salmon season fill fast though.
You can also boondock in Walmarts, trailheads, and in road turnouts in Ak. Get a Milepost to help plan.

On the first one, I'll be running a lightweight slide-in camper on at least 1 ton truck.
