Too early for Skeena/tribs?
Good morning,
I find myself with some unexpected time off and am considering a road trip North to Smithers. I fished the area about 15 years ago a couple times in mid September with mixed results - once was good, another trip everything was blown.
Is August generally still too early?
Thinking of heading up around the 11th.

I would say a little early. Plus the salmon fishing closure is still on.

If you want to go Mtn Biking though - it’s a great time.

Thanks for the reply. We wouldn't be fishing for salmon, but I'm guessing it's still too early for their cousins. Someday I'll get it together and make it back up during prime time.

The Tyee data looks really good for steelhead but I worry they’ll close it due to the concerns about by~catch.
Mr gravy - if you do come up. I am in Smithers Let me know.

Between the lodges the hotels, the guides the resturants ect the steelhead season might drive too much money to not have a season ?
