Dave Watson was the first to put skis on the slope in 2009 ... granted he was 300m from the summit when they had to turn around... but I guess that doesn't count anymore.

The Poles are freaking bad-ass in the mountains, what a history for such a small country. Just finished reading "Art of Freedom" about Voytek Kurtyka, which completely blew my mind.

Mad props if this turns out to be true, radness thru the roof.

Hans Kammerlander did an attempt many years ago too but had to abort after descending on skis a few hundred meters from the summit due to excessively dangerous conditions.

    Unreal achievement.

Google earthed the mountain....couldn't find any green circle or blue square runs.

Wonder what line he skied? One of these blue ones?

insane! I can't imagine climbing a mountain like that with such a huge set of balls

the route is described here: ( but looks like he started with the red above, then traversed skiers right to blue and then continued down the right fork)

This is pretty incredible! Seems like it would be a really intense ski descent.

On another note, does it seem to anyone else that mountaineering achievements have fallen out of favor with the media in recent years? Other than the TGR instagram feed, I'm not seeing much coverage.

hmm, noted for thought. i always like that guy in colorado who skied all the 14ers in a season, but somehow did not follow the rules. jason ivanic. always loved that story.

    mad respect for sure though.

Pretty freaking intense! Hats way TF off!

CNN's article on this has a couple of trailers I haven't seen elsewhere (with some very cool drone footage): https://www.cnn.com/2018/07/23/sport...ntl/index.html. Looks like dude even found some good pow (as well as...other things).

I'm sure Red Balls will put together a full-length feature - it's what they do. They just had to release something the minute the news broke.

BTW, that cnn article also states: no supplemental oxygen used, and ski descent took 7 hours. Impressive as hell.

Yes, the Poles are superbadass in the mountains.
